Coliseum Continues Moratorium Indefinitely
Written by zin
Friday, 16 July 2010 17:25

As many of you may know, Sasha Rodriguez (15), passed away after collapsing at this year's edition of Electric Daisy Carnival. Two days after her passing, Coliseum officials placed a temporary moratorium on contracting any future festivals at the venue. The same officials were to meet today, July 16th, to determine whether or not EDM festivals of this caliber were to remain banned from the venue.

The hearing has come and gone and the results are out. According to Silicon Valley's MercuryNews.com, "the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has voted to continue indefinitely a moratorium on booking raves at the historic venue..." However, the festivals that have been planned for the adjacent Sports Arena in August (Love Festival) and October (Monster Massive) will continue as planned with stricter guidelines to be followed. Both events have confirmed an 18+ age limit and ER staff will be required to be on hand rather than just Ambulances and EMTs.

Let's not let this bring us down. Instead, let's divert this energy to help educate the current scene for a more positive experience. Many of our members are supporting a new group co-founded by our very own zin and Ph0toN. SOS: Save Our Scene, in conjunction with Glowsticking.com, is committed to educating the scene through the use of various promotional materials such as buttons, flyers, and shirts as well as continually updated Facebook Pages.

Beyond Wonderland!
Tuesday, 09 March 2010 00:26

With the recent rise in massives lately, it's no surprise that Insomniac decided to bring in a new festival to the ring. While not completely brand new, Beyond Wonderland will debut March 20th at the National Orange Show Events Center(in San Bernardino, CA) as Nocturnal Festival's sister. The festival features Groove Armada (DJ Set), Sander Van Doorn, Wippenberg, Tocadisco, Robbie Rivera, Pendulum, Caspa, and many more to get you moving and grooving!

Many GSCers are planning to attend the inaugural edition of Beyond Wonderland, with some considering it the beginning of 2010's festival season (EDC 2010, Audiotistic 2010, & Nocturnal 2010 here we come!).

Obviously, GSC is no stranger to Insomniac's festivals and events, with our annual Pre-EDC meetups and GlowShops; but did you know we have some older footage featuring Dave & Bryce at Nocturnal Wonderland 2001?

This footage was captured long before the festival matured and darkened into what is now Nocturnal Festival with many attendees crying for the older, much more vibrant, and wondrous land to come back. Insomniac has finally responded to those cries and is ready to welcome us Beyond Wonderland!

Los Angeles GlowShop

Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday will be Los Angeles' first ever GlowShop! Held in a studio at 511 Molino Street, the GlowShop officially kicks off at 1:00 PM and will go on until 8:00 PM. Be prepared to listen to some awesome tunes from MadRaverRai as you meet, practice, and mingle with GSCers from various regions!

Don't forget that we will be filming footage for the upcoming Art Of Glowsticking II DVD! So shrug off those nerves and be prepared to have a ton of fun!

We will also be heading to Awakening by Insomniac after the GlowShop to finish off our night of mayhem while Infected Mushroom and ATB damage the dance floor at the Hollywood Palladium. So be sure you have your tickets and glowsticks ready!
