What it is, Why we use it, and How to use it
An article by Ph0toN
Just what is the GSC Flickr Gallery?
The GSC Flickr Gallery is a massive collection of GSC meetup and event photos, taken and submitted by GSC members. It's the official place to go for GSC related photographs. We have a pro account that is payed for yearly by Dave so that we have no limit to how many sets and photographs can be added to it. Each set constitutes one meetup or event and contains pictures taken by multiple GSC'ers at the particular meetup or event. In addition to the sets there is also a group pool that pictures from individual Flickr accounts can be added to.
Why we use the GSC Flickr Gallery:
Without the GSC Flickr Gallery our pictures would be spread out all across the internet. The gallery allows us to keep them all grouped into one area for quick and easy viewing access. By going to one address all of the photos and sets can be easily found and viewed. Not only that, but every image in the gallery is also linked into the GSC Photo Gallery. If you look at the top of any forum page on GSC you will see a link that says "Photo Gallery." If you click on it, it will show you an archive of every picture that's in the GSC Flickr Gallery right here on GSC.
How to use the GSC Flickr Gallery:
There are two ways to use the gallery. The first and easiest is to collect all of the pictures that were taken at a meetup or event from the people that took them. Keep the pictures separated into folders that are named after the person that took them. The reason for naming the folders is so that the photographer can be given credit in the description of the picture. Once the photos have been collected and organized they can all be added to a zip file and sent to a GSC staff member. The staff member will then add them to a new set in the GSC Flickr Gallery and add them to the "glowsticking" group pool.
1. Always make sure someone brings a camera to an event or meetup.
