2.) Angle your right hand upward while keeping your wrists crossed, bring the right stick to the right side of your body

3.) As the right stick moves to the right side, start to bring the left stick to the right side

4.) Now that both sticks are on the right side, let your wrists unwind and continue the normal weave motion for a 4 beat weave.

Or:
Repeat steps 1-3, only with left and right reversed, to add the extra rotation to the
right side of your body also, for a complete 5 beat weave.

Tips:
-As always, try one hand first to get the feel for adding the extra rotation on each side.
-Try learning the hand motions first, then adding in strings.
-Your wrists will move in a rolling motion; you may be able to see this more clearly in
the video.

5 beat reverse weave

Starting from a reverse 3 beat weave, as the left hand is about to lead to the right side:

From a standard 3 beat weave, as the left hand is about to lead to the right side:

1.) Bring the left hand up and over the right hand, bending your wrist away from your body to help the stick gain some clearance.

2.) Angle your right hand upward while keeping your wrists crossed, bring the right stick to the right side of your body

3.) As the right stick moves to the right side, start to bring the left stick to the right side

4.) Now that both sticks are on the right side, let your wrists unwind and continue the normal weave motion for a 4 beat reverse weave.

Or:
Repeat steps 1-3, only with left and right reversed, to add the extra rotation to the
right side of your body also, for a complete 5 beat reverse weave.

Tips:
-For the reverse 5 beat, it is easier to learn to dodge the sticks at first, rather than relying
solely on clean hand movements.
-When leading to the right side, it may be helpful to rotate your body some to the right,
reducing the profile of your body. This will let you avoid both sticks easier.
-Try to concentrate on making each leading hand ( right to the right side, and vice versa )
come under the opposite arm, and upwards to lead to the other side.
-The non-leading hand will be very awkward at first, since you will have to bend your
elbow to get clearance for your hand ( or you might hit yourself in the face ).
-Pay attention to how the wrists wrap around each other in the video, getting the wrist roll
right is key to making the reverse 5 beat clean.
