Take a dead glowstick. Before starting, mark off how much from each end you want to cut off. Any kind of dead 6" glowstick will work

Pic 2
Here, you see that I marked off about one inch from each end of the glowstick. It doesn't matter how much you cut off.
(TIP--Short tubing, better control. Longer tubing, better light.)

Pic 3
Now you're ready to cut open the glowstick. Use a very very sharp knife to cut open the glowstick. Make sure you cut on a wipable surface; here I'm using an old throwaway sock. But there are some things you must keep in mind when cutting the glowstick open:

-The inners of the glowstick have very small glass shards.
-The liquid inside may splatter.

Dispose of the liquid in any plastic container(coke bottles are good for this).

Now you have to clean the glowstick tubing. You can use Q-tips or a paper towel with one end rolled into a point.

Pic 5
Using the paper towel/Q-tip, wipe the inside at least three to four times over. You can also wash the tubing out with water if you'd like

Pic 6
After cleaning, your casing should look clean and semi-transparent. This is an old casing that I have used before. Now you're ready to insert the lights.

Pic 7
The lights you are going to use are the Happy Camper Lightsticks from Wal-mart. They retail at about $2.50 each(You may also find these lights on www.technomoves.com where they retail for $3 each, but with other colors). Remove the plastic tubing ends on the lights, and you should have the lights themselves(as seen above).

Pic 8
Let the glowstick tubing sit in hot water for about one minute(this will make them easier to work with). Remove them and dry them off. Now insert the light into the glowstick tubing while hot/warm(as seen above) as far in as you can make it go. Repeat with the other end. If one end of the glowstick tubing colls down, you can dip it into hot water to warm it back up.

Pic 9
This is how your LEDstick should look in the end after all your hard work.

The lights are perfect for freehanding. They can be used for stringing, but are heavy. Enjoy your new LEDs, and I hope this was some help to you.
