I've wondered about this for a couple of years now, but haven't really ever stumbled upon anything. So this question goes out to any of you who are musicians/producers or make music, electronic or otherwise.

If and when you're looking for collaborators, where do you go? Are there communities or groups, or do you just come up with good ideas around the right people and work with them?

I ask this because I sing, and although I've done vocals for one or two small projects and recorded things for kicks, I still feel like there's a lot more I'd like to do. I like collaborating with people and sharing creativity. I don't have much spare time these days, but I still love to sing. Not that I have any experience with this, but contact people you'd like to collaborate with and send them demos via the various internet hosting sites. Worst thing that can happen is you get no reply or someone says no. You might find someone though if you play the numbers right and the right person.

there are communities and groups, but i would think that it definitely helps out a lot if you happen to know someone in particular that you like working with.

I may need a singer in one of my songs. What tone do you sing at?

Soprano. Pretty classic soprano, and I suppose I've got a voice that might sound too young. I threw together a few short clips to demonstrate range; allergies have been kicking my pitch control these days but hopefully it's not too evident.

Lower range sample (lowest note's 'bout as low as I can go, and can't always hit it)
More typical range
lawl, Kirsty Hawkshaw-wannabe

Last two sound like they were recorded in a tin can 'cause I grabbed the first open practice room. Apologies. I can usually noise-remove to the quality of the first clip or better.
