One of the hosts of this event, DJ Eve, has asked me to glowstring at this event this friday. I know her through her open turntable sessions, every thursday at the Minoru Pavilion in Richmond - a sort of "learn to DJ" session. I've explained glowsticking to her briefly, and I think she has come onto our website and read some of our articles.
The glowstringing isn't for money, or showcasing talent, she wants me to come just to diversify the types of art they are showing at this event. They're going to have some live graffiti artists, there will be pieces displayed in the community centre, DJs, and bands. I'm posting here to ask you Vancouver glowstickers whether you would like to come with me and spread the art. Note: the event info says a GoCard is required to enter the event, but Eve said as long as we organize it and you are there with her knowledge it's fine.
ALL of the details are still unknown to me but I can contact Eve relatively easy. If any of you are interested, post here on this thread, or maybe PM me on facebook (in my signature), and I can let Eve know. Ideally we would to make the glowsticking a bit more interactive than just performing; we were thinking of having demonstrations, maybe just to teach some people basic moves.
Anyway, it would be really great if we could get some of you to attend!
P.S. ...I also realize this is rather short notice, and maybe it would be more beneficial to try and have this organized into a real booth with business cards and explanation of glowsticking ideals for a later date. Feedback would be appreciated. I'll send this thread to Dave in a PM and see what he thinks. I'm crossing my fingers!
