After hearing the first two singles (Granite & Propane Nightmares), I thought that this would be a decent album. I was also reassured by the 12 minute mini mix of the album that was given out for free. However, upon listening to the album in full, I have a hard time getting past a few songs. Their sound has definitely changed, but I'm not sure if it's for better or for worse. I'm going to give it a few more listens before I come up with a final decision on whether or not I love their new sound.

For those who have listened, what are your thoughts? For those of you who haven't, you might have to wait until May 12 (the album's release date) to find out.

Pendulum has been my favorite dnb artist for as long as Ive listened to dnb, so it's hard for me to give an objective opinion.

The new album is definitely a new sound, but I like it. It still has that raw energy that hold your colour had, and I think its just as good (if not better).

I think part of the reason Pendulum has always been so popular in the DnB category is that they tend to mix in a more contemporary sound with Drum n' Bass. This makes it very different from a lot of repetitive cookie cutter DnB out there and to many fans probably refreshing, but it also makes them more approachable to listeners of other electronic genres and even mainstream listeners.

I think In Silico has pushed them even further in that direction, and while I personally like it, I can't imagine it's going to help them much with true DnB fans. I particularly enjoyed Propane Nightmares, Visions, The Other Side, and The Tempest. But I don't think these will be particularly well received actually. It's kind of like Linkin Park's newest album. They branched out as artists and the growth of their band musically brought in a new sound (a softer one) that many old fans hated. There were lots of die-hards who stayed true to them, but I think they lost a big following when that happened.

I'm not saying this will be as drastic, but the change is definitely there.

While, I will admitt that the sound is different, I still think its good, maybe not as good to me as previous tracks/albums but I like it over all.

Propane nightmares is a hella good song.

Moved. Despite some opinions, this still technically and specifically Drum n' Bass. (IMG:http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

I agree with you zin. Granite and propane nightmares are sick songs.

They have for sure changed since hold your color(which IMO is still their best yet.)
But im haveing a hard time deciding wether or not i like the new sound. I mean they have
a really good album and all but i dont know what to think

I still love them because well their crazy.

personally not a big fan of the whole super rock inspired thing.

i dont feel like its too much different from hold your colour in terms of the sound, indeed they are pendulum.

yeah the whole 'band' thing is kinda weird for me. not that i dont appreciate live dnb.

Yeaaah. Pendulum has their awesome songs, but I don't feel like this album is for me at all. Oh well.

Sounds like pop DnB.
Still worth listening too though.
