lol, I don't know what you consider real techno since I was never really all into techno...
I'm still one who is bias about techno due to it being overplayed in the mainstream world...
plus, I can't really hang with the bpm or the oddish sound...
I'm sure there are plenty of members who are into techno, but doesn't want to speak up... (IMG:http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I think he means non-DDR and non-radio techno.

To answer your question, the music forum was never really..."alive," per se, even before they made all these new categories.

I'd have to say that I dabble in all genres, but my main focus isn't techno.

Side note: it pisses me off when I hear little raver-wannabe-kids call everything techno. "Do you listen to techno, oh my god I love techno."

...wait, you dislike techno because of "mundane and predictable" and yet you like trance?? That makes no sense.

Jesus. Techno's my main stuff nowadays, not so much the Minimal, but the Harder stuff, Old school Sprial Tribe, Ken Iishi. even some newer DJ's like DJ Amok. It's all so good.

I couldn't tell the difference ( at least not yet ) between the difference styles if you smacked me in the face with it. I just call it all electronic music for now. Maybe one day I shall be able to discern the different sounds!

It's not techno. None of it's techno, It's all sugarcoated candy pop-trance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sygV9xGqBg...feature=related (Schranz, The German style, Percussive to the max, Drums used as Melody, Rhythm and just about everything else.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeS_DsCCHNw (Oldschool Techno from Spiral Tribe, Look them up on Wikipedia or something of the like.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keQEVEHLYb0 (Old-Old-OLDSCHOOL stuff from one of the inventors of the genre itself. Juan Atkins' No UFO's, Released in 1986)

Of course, My post is just going to be ignored, So you guys can learn the rest for yourselves. Try Wikipedia. Or do the whole Ishkur thing, Read through that, Even though the guy's a snarky bastard, He has one hell of a guide with one hell of a techno section.

It used to be www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html but it's redrecting to techno.org. It's still acessable through the URL above though.
