im getting tired of this and it has happened to me several times but today was just horrible... Usually every 2 weeks or so i go up to my neighborhood park to string and i bring my zune to listen to music.. but this week i finally got a camera so i decided to record a video to put up on here.. well, i was on a perfect streak and i managed to do some moves i have never even accomplished before (gumbees, btb butterflys, etc) and as i was nearing my finish i saw two people coming up to the park holding tennis rackets.. i was assuming that they were just adults going to the tennis court because my neighborhood is full of tennis freaks. they approached me and i realized it was 2 kids from my school. i thought "oh they will respect what i'm doing.. i've had other people from our school see me stringing and they thought it was awesome" but that was the complete opposite of what happened. when they saw me they started laughing and approached me and started yelling obscenitys and disses at me. (this is normal for me but not when i am stringing) well long story short they ruined my video i had recording which pissed me off because i was on such a good streak. now, normally when people see me stringing they just either say "that's cool" or they laugh (which im fine with) but i am talking about when people actually go up to your face and start talking smack about what you are doing... this was just a big let down to me as i warship PLUR and dont really understand why people would do this so.. discuss : disrespect your experiences ect.

They're just jealous LOL Don't let it get you down. I'm almost 26 years old, I've had my share of negative comments. They're all... "you play with glowsticks? aren't you a little old for that?" that sort of thing. But I don't let it get to me. Just edit out the ending of the video when they come up.

It happens, especially with high school kids. Just brush it aside. Lots of people are either mean or just want to make fun of what they don't do or understand. I've had my share of things said from close by or yelled at me by passing cars, and even comments on youtube. Just remember that their opinion doesn't matter, only yours does. I'm sorry your video got ruined, but look on the bright side. It gives you a reason to crack more sticks and make another one, and they're always a blast to make. Keep doing what you do, enjoy yourself, and ignore stuff like that.

On windows movie maker, split the clip twice at the start of the unwanted audio, and at the end of the unwanted audio. Than just mute that individual clip.
Get some friends interested, and go with them next time, becuase most people are wimps when it comes to groups of people.

I don't know what to say that others haven't said. But honestly, don't worry about it. People in general tend to make fun of that which they don't understand unless they are open minded individuals. Even then they tend to do it if what they are looking at isn't what they are nessicarily open minded towards. This is especially true when you are younger, but by no means limited to then. And really, what are your options? Get angry? What will that accomplish? Nothing really. Try to educate them? Unless they are open to being educated, it could eather make things worse or do nothing. Ignore them and don't let it bother you. Guess what, that's the equivilant of giving them the finger as it shows them that you honestly don't give a shit about what they say. Especially if they seem to be going out of their way to get under your skin. And really, that's the best thing to do so long as things don't get physical.
I say this from experience. The things I've been called from the different ways I dress, the different genres and musical counter-cultures I participate in is enough to get most people more then pissed. But I don't let it bother me. And the funny thing is, that actually bothers them to the point that they keep it up and eventually give up. To qoute my roommate, sometimes you need to adopt a "I don't give a fuck attitude". Cause that type of bull is not worth giving a damn about.

QUOTE if you ever get to annoyed, just hand them the strings and say okay, you try..let em hit themselves a few times and then laugh :] funny you should say that marv cuz i did almost that exact same thing in my experience Basically i was invited to go to a party and obviously i can't turn down a possible good time (and free booze) well i got there with my friends kind of early. well a couple of people were all talking to us and my friend mentioned that i club and do glowsticks. So naturally the few others who were involved in our convo requested to see what it's all about since they never have seen it before. Of course i kindly obliged and got a fresh pair out of my car (yes i keep styx in my car just in case i really feel like crackin them somewhere) and i went through my whole thing and towards the end of my run, a few guys came up and they did start laughing. they were being childish about the whole thing saying i look like a ballerina or a cheerleader or something grade school like that. So i stopped what i was doing, wrapped up the sticks, and handed it to one of them and told him to just | | |
