    From Slashdot.org

"The Washington Times is reporting that the DHS wants to replace your boarding pass with a GPS-enabled shock bracelet. Plans for the device include subduing passengers remotely as well as onboard interrogation. There's even a promotional video."

    ----

I dont really thing this is that bad of a idea, but I still am wondering who is convincing the government to spend our tax money in a place that has long since become null and void as a target for terriorist. With the addition of air marshials, incressed decetion tools, forifyed cockpit door and the addition , to new planes, of vents to allow pilots to depressor the passioners to the point of passing out. What terriorist will be attemping to still hijack a air plane?

This is not to mention that the mentality of the passengers has also changed sence 911. Before the thought was that if you sat back and let the terrorist get what they wanted everything would work it's self out and everyone would be fine. Now anyone would emitly belive they are attempting to put the plane into a building and thus I am sure the hijackers will be subdued or killed in the process.

However I do not belive the braclet is all a bad idea. As it could be used for easyer flight bording -- pass it next to a machine which turns a light green if that is your flight so you can just keep walking and not stop to show your ticket to a employee. Also as it mentions in the video this can be used to keep track of your luggage insuring they arive on time.

Overall I belive this is one of the better idea the DHS has come up with. And I, while not the most excited about it, wouldn't put up a fuss about having to ware one of these...

What are your thoughts? And forgive the spelling lol.

Don't underestimate the power of Hitchhiking. I've gone to raves in one car, and left in another. Makes making friends pretty easy as well.

Be sure to have a knife or something on you though, just in case if you do that. You never know.

So from NYC, to Cali for EDC, shit, that'd take 4-5 weeks perhaps, depending on where you get rides from, and from who.

There is a limit to the application of democratic methods. You can inquire of all the passengers as to what type of car they like to ride in, but it is impossible to question them as to whether to apply the brakes when the train is at full speed and accident threatens.

thats what I love about ravers. they're really nice (the true ones anyway...) you could hitchhike through each state, hit the parties in each one, then get to cali lol.
It wouldn't be that hard finding rides with our kind of networking we have today.

The bracelet is a good idea as a utility, but as a defence? Are we dogs? I sure as hell don't want to get treated like one.

It just doesn't seem like it would work. How would they make sure that the bracelets cannot be taken off during the flight? Why dont they just train the pilots to operate tazors instead? What if the terrorist got ahold of the device that sends the shocks?

Just some thoughts I had when watching the vid.

the should just give the cockpit a security guard, and through out the whole flight, they'd just sit in he doorway pointing a mp5 at who ever moves
