Hey so i am finally getting back into free hand and glow sticking again. its been about 2 years, and i recently got back from a Benny Benassi rave in my hometown and i decided i really wanna get back into it. My question is, as times have changed, I've noticed lots and lots of new toys and sticks available. My favorite so far i have seen are these
Zebra Sticks
There are also some checkerboard sticks i saw that could be pretty cool.

Also i saw what i think were called "Ultras" that are extremely bright for a few minutes before going to regular stick brightness. I could only find orange ones, is this the only color they come in? and where would be the best place to get them?
Anyone have any personal preference to these or could vouch/denounce these? or where to get them cheaper?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions for new types of sticks out other than the generic dollar store/WalMart ones i used to always buy?

The main point im going for is visual blur effects. im not too great at tossing, but i love to stall and cause illusions. Thats why the above linked sticks appealed to me so much.

Thanks and sorry if this is a repeat of an older thread, i couldn't find any others like this

I bought my regular sticks from extremeglow.com... bought about 50 of them, shipping isn't cheap either... its about $8 shipping, but better the glowproducts from where I live lol. Glowproducts and extremeglow have different color ultras.

Exactly what i was asking (IMG:http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
anybody have any input on them visually?
i think using them freehand with some pause-to-blur effects with some quick hand movements would be way trippy

you think the zebra or the checkerboards would be cooler?

I think I saw someone with printed sticks at a party not too long ago. They weren't really glowsticking with them, though. They looked kinda interesting just by themselves, but I wasn't blown away by it. Maybe it would be different if the person was actually doing something with them.

My general thought, though, is that the printing reduces the overall light output because it obscures some of the glowstick's surface area. Thus, while the traces might look more complex, they wouldn't appear as bright. Plus, you'd only see the complex traces if you were looking at the side of the stick. This might work fine for stringing, but a lot of freehand moves don't extensively show the stick from the side. If you had printed ultras, I'd think that their large light output would wash out the effect of the printing to the point that people might hardly notice it's there.

Overall, I imagine these are probably more of a gimmick than anything really useful for glowstcking. But somebody should post a vid using them so we can see for ourselves.

alright i ordered a box of 20 and im gonna go buy a webcam so i can start posting videos.
The reason i think these would be awesome is cause the majority of the time im sticking at parties is giving a few people an up-close light show, and thats when i think these would really have an effect that would be noticeable.

As for at actual raves when im out in the open, i plan on buying some ultras. I really wish the white ultras were much brighter, but seeing as they aren't i plan on most likely getting the generic orange (even tho i hate this color)

sticks wont arrive for a week, but when they do ill be sure to post about em.

On a side note, I noticed that the vendor linked above also sells color-changing glowsticks. I've used these before, and they're actually pretty cool. Only caveat is that you can't predict the rate of color change, so the chances of getting two that change equally is slim, but that can be a benefit, too, depending on what you want.

ive actually tried that before, and more often then not they bleed the sharpie all over my hands and it takes days to get it all washed off cause the damn stuff literally soaks into my skin :[

i was thinking of trying Latex or Acrylic paint instead but never got around to it. then i saw these and figured, meh, im lazy, and i wanted white sticks anyways. so ya...

but anyways, those color changing ones are sick! thanks for pointing those out! ima have to take a look at those too
