Allright, this post is strictly for posters who have learned a lot and have had their lives enriched through GS.C. Please tell me the friends you've met, the places you've gone, and the things you learned on GS.C, as well as why exactly GS.C rocks! Please make your responses fairly long, like a paragraph or two. This is to convince those lurkers that participating is awesome!

I've learned many a move from this site. From the videos, to the tutorials, to the threads....all of them have helped me to further my glowsticking ability greatly. I have also learned to have a more open mind to people opinions. From "Dear GS.C", to "The Love Lounge", it's all been very beneficial to me. I've gotten great advice, and also have been calmed down during certain situations from these forums.
Plus this community is very accpting. No matter what your background, culture, color, language, views, whatever, if you come here ready to make friends, you will do it. Just from the 2 meetups I've gone to (Bang 2005, Philly: Whistle 2006, Philly) I have met at least a dozen people from this site and even though it was some for the first time, they were very nice to me.
Even the Health/Substance forum has helped me. Even though I am not a Substance user myself, I could never understand where any of the users were coming from as far as getting into that kind fo thing. But after reading some threads, reading some information (great links, articles, advice to others) I have a better understanding towards those people and I have learned to accept them as one of us.
This site is here for a great cause/culture. I could go on for days but the only way that anyone will understand is by joining up and participating.

GSC has really come a long way ever since I joined, and I'm proud of staying with GSC until now. I've met so many amazing people, personality wise and glowsticking wise that even going out of my way to meet people was worth it.
I visited the Chicago GSCers for the first time Oct. 31 2003, and again numerous times this year. For 2003 Christmas Eve, I spent it with Dave/Aileen/James/Paul in beautiful California.
And between now the end of this year, I plan to meet Shiesty, The Japan GSCers (which formed after I left =/ ) and the Chicago peeps again for a BBQ (http://www.glowsticking.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5216&st=60&#entry95376)
I also plan to meetup with some glowstickers in Arizona and Beijing, China when I get the time. (I haven't forgot you Shabuki and Allstarme!)
Without GSC I wouldn't have met so many kind-hearted people. Everyone is very accepting and there's good vibes. If you plan to take a roadtrip to a big Chicago/California or East Coast meetup, I guarantee you'll make a couple of friends and learn a lot from the stringers/stickers.
I noticed that the GSC forums is kind of a mirror. It reflects what you "put" into it. If you're mean and disrespectful, you'll get the same in return. "Treat others the way you want to be treated" works much better here than in real life. =)
I'd like to give props to everyone I met for giving me inspiration at those times when I felt like quitting freehanding. To have witnessed so much talent in real life, is nothing like those videos you download in the Media Center folks.
Baiscally GSC opened my mind to new forms of dance like popping/waving/tutting and all sorts of funk styles. I appreciate all dance much more nowadays and I've learnt so many things reading through the boards and analyzing other people's perspectives and ideas that I would've never thought of myself. GSC has taught me much... =)
Also, after a very prolonged period of time, I'm going to post my Socal Review (the one where I spent my Christmas in Cali), which I planned to post, but by the time I was going to post it, the event was almost a month old, oh well, here goes nothing...
//=====================
Well, Aileen (cynicdoll) wanted me to write a review so here goes...
Basically, the trip was fantastic to say the least and getting to actual socialize with Dave/Paul/James/Bryce/Aileen was unforgettable.
I'd like to thank everyone I met for showing me a great time and being hospitable.
I went to UCI for the filming, the Irvine Spectrum (crazy ass outdoor mall, I've been all across America and Asia but have never seen anything like it. 2 thumbs up!), and all sorts of different places to eat (Red Robin, Islands, Hawaiian place, McDees...etc...)
Playing foozball with Paul/Bryce/Dave was crazy fun too, even tho my team always lost (sorry! I suck at defense =/ ) Dave with his cheap "spin-the-foozball-men-around" tactic and Bryce's finesse move.
And then playing poker with you guys, was really fun too. My first time and I won 10 bucks! (Yeah, I know, tis beginners luck... )
Playing against James in old school NES games, like that damn Donkey Kong Jr. Math game... And Dave playing True crime, shooting poor virtual citizens in the head =D Good times...
And of course the meetup was great =)
Meeting up with:
Dave Paul James Aileen James GF (Estella? I forget ) DJ Demon Rusty Scrible Toxic Dustin Bowls Those 2 guys (white guy and black guy, both good at glowsticking) and that Doctor guy (all very cool. I just forget their names =/)
But yea,  2 thumbs up. Meeting you all was an honor and I've met a large amount of GSCers (practically everyone in Chicago and now, a big chunk of Socal)
And even though I left on Christmas Eve and missed Christmas day over a plane, it was very worth it. This was defintely one of the best Christmas breaks I've ever had.
Everyone there inspired me to further glowsticking and constantly improve my skills. Paul's dancing defintely impressed me and James is way faster in real life than the vids. And Dave has incredible flow and a whole bunch of moves he's collected over the years. Kinda like meeting a wise man of glowsticking
I left Cali with juggling balls from Dave, a Gap Sweater from Aileen, Paul's LEDsticks and 2 pairs of Aqua High intensities (Super rare)
I hereby would like to thank all the California people for showing me such a great time, I'll never forget it =)

That was a great post. I remember when I first meet GS.C people. It was the best time I ever had and it was exciting and thrilling. Everyone was very kind and you learn so many new things and make friends in a blink of an eye. My very first meet up ever was in UCI for the BBQ-Meetup for EDC last year.

Might as well merge this with my thread in the "Intelligent Discussion Forum" :: How has GSC changed your life :: Because the majority of people already answered there a few months ago. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I've only been deeply apart of the GS.C in the last 2-4 weeks. Over that time, my skills and precision have practically tripled!!! I knew of the GS.C in June, I even used the stringing tutorials but I never knew about the amazing stickers and stringers and their level of skill until recently.
Since then I've started a bit of a revolution over here. All my other glowsticking (more like glowdancing) friends keep asking me to teach them. I came up with the idea to write up an introductory to glowsticking report about the GS.C's philosophy, guidlines and a few links to get them started (which I submitted as an inquiry to be reviewed so I can truely be on the same page with this community's ideals. ). In Ottawa I am at amateur/pro level. Here in this community, I am but a sad little novice. x.x (That is how Canada's national capitol is, we have nothing here in ways of glowstickers besides maybe one or two people who are really not bad compared to you wonderful people.).
How has it changed my life? For once in my life I can do something in a dance/club. I love to rave and this helps as an outlet. I've also wanted to entertain and make people happy and offer some way to improve their lives. I even helped my friend out of his suicidal depression through trying to take him in and invite him to learn under me.

I would love to have the chance to meet others who string. Where I live, we are far and few. After colleage, I plan to move to california and get a job either as a video game programmer, or as a Computer network engineer. Maybe I can meet more people then. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Untill then though, it looks like I am on my own.

i remember my first time going to a gs.c meetup as well which was just a few months ago in october for monster-massive actually meeting others glowstickers boosts your confidence in yourself, because everywhere else i am, i am told that its lame and just a waste of time but with others, you realize that glowsticking is not just something to do for fun it is also another art form, yet others dont recognize it anyways, just meeting people from gs.c is great :]
