Rules of this Forum
if you are going to make a bold statement, provide evidence or at least a logical explaination for them. most topics disscussed here have no right or wrong answer, so give a reason for your opinion.
Personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated.
be respectful. acting like a munchkin will get you treated as such.
be supportive, although you may view one person's problem as trivial, to them, it may actually be a life or death issue.
sometimes, we all need to simply agree to disagree.
finally, there are no right or wrong answers, only opinions. so avoid the "you're wrong and are goig to burn in hell" or "well, you are just stupid" retorts when you don't like what someone has to say. no matter how hard you try, you cannot make someone agree with you if they don't see it that way.
Avoid intellectual dead-endsTry avoid using phrases like, "it's useless talking to you!" or "you are all one-sided and my opinions can't change you". Instead, follow the ways of socrates and try to INCREASE discussion by asking questions. Be OPEN-MINDED. This is just a forum and you are unlikely you will change anyone elses viewpoints, but you may learn a thing or two. Hypothetically accept viewpoints now and then for the sake of discussion and to fully understand their viewpoints.
Try to type on a level that's somewhat formal. Abreviations or slang words are not recommended because people will just not take you seriously.
Avoid cursing and slander.
DO reference your thoughts with links and outside references for people to peruse. That will encourage a sideways debate.
If a debate spurns a new side-debate, make a new thread, and be kind enough to link to the new thread.
Be DESCRIPTIVE in your topic descriptions.
PROOF-READ! Absolute correctness is not necessary, but people should at least get what you are saying.
Were you in the cliche "in" group in highschool or not? |

It's of my opinion and I've heard it from many others, that ravers and / or glowstickers in general typically were not in the cliche "in" or "popular" group in highschool. I know I personally wasn't, I couldn't stand that group of people. So I'm curious to know where the numbers actually stand. I've made two different questions on this poll. One for those who consider themselves glowstickers to answer, and one for those who consider themselves ravers to answer. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

I answered for glowstickers. The answer's "no" regardless; my interests have always been off-center and very, very diverse. In the very end, I got along with the in-group-- mutual respect/tolerance, academic clout, blah blah blah-- but I wouldn't say I was part of it.
Individuality, open-mindedness and curiosity/desire to explore new interests: not characteristics of the stereotypical high school in-group.

my school was full of snobby rich kids who had tons of money to buy tons of drugs and go to parties just to get fucked up and be popular for it. It was never for the music for them.
I on the other hand was just someone who wanted to live, be happy, play music, do art. We had a edm club one of my ex's friends started called the S.T.U.D. club. I forget the anagram... something techno uber dance or something like that... and they held dances in churches... never went to one. their last party was on raverday disneyland so I never went to a single meetup or w/e. but anyway back on topic. I wasn't in the "in" group. I was a nobody tyvm. I hung out with the artists and poor kids lol.

What do you consider the " In group"? are we talking about the stereotypical star athlete/prom queen type of group? or does this "In group" also include the other people who were considered cool and popular but for other reasons?

Both the stereotypical star athelete/prome queen type and the others that were popular for other random reasons.

When I was in high school I would always laugh at the kandy kids and make fun of the people who would glowstick at school. Not to their faces... but still. and now Im on a site like this (IMG: http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I was a part of the in crowd but only because they knew how to have fun on the weekends.

LOL Justin
Anyway, I was definitely not "in". I was the stereotypical nerd for half of high school, haha.
