So I'm taking a History of Dance class here at the University right now and my dance teacher definitely talked about liquiding and glowsticking today. Apparently, he was a raver back in the early 90's in San Francisco. I just thought it was really cool to hear about from someone who was a raver/glowsticker 15 years ago. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

My high school German teacher went to Berlin and SF LoveParade a lot and I would talk to her a lot about that.

I remember my art teacher used to go to raves when she was in college as well.

Old story has it that, as we go through life we really don’t change, we just become more of the same. You look around you as the years go by and it seems a very valid premise. People don’t change. As a matter of fact, most of us resist change very strongly. Yet change is a sure thing, the only variable is rate; slow we read as evolution, and fast as revolution.

i had an interesting dance teacher when i lived in england... it was a basically learn something in every genre type of course. we went through all the traditionals (albeit, european modern and lyrical is vastly different from american). we skipped a lot of hip-hop styles and did actual african dancing. and then we had two classes on breakdancing, and pop'n'lock stuff, and hula hoops... and i remember she ended up moving to another university with a more experimental dance program after the university administration found out that her big summer plan was to go to Global Gathering that year and miss some part of a term that i wasn't in...

Im sure a few people from GSC either already are teachers or will be in the future. With the amount of members that we have had it has to happen. The stories they will tell... or wont tell in fear of losing their jobs. (IMG:http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) lol

BRYCE!

--------------------

When I describe a move as "aerial" I am talking about what we used to call the move set of poi in glowstringing.

Why? Because the word poi is what's used for the art of poi, and is mixed up every freaking day when people are referring to either the move set called poi in glowstringing or are referring to the art itself.

If you're glowstringing I call it aerial, if not then I don't care what they're called.

Two instances for me.

The High School Dance Teacher, (Who was also the coach for the Modern Dance Girls) Actually had several sets of fabric poi, because a few years prior to me attending the school she bought them in hopes of teaching her students some of the moves to learn. Well she failed, and one day I saw her absent mindly spinning one while staring off to the distance, and we got talking and she had me teacher her a weave, a butterfly and a little bit about Poi, so she could teach her dancers.

As well as my old art teacher would randomly free hand with his paintbrushes or markers when ever anything with bass came on, I questioned him about it to find out he was a heavy user in the olden days and he learned to freehand to keep his mind off of it while at raves.

there seems to be a things with Art teachers
