I've been doing a lot of research into dancing styles that may interest me, but so far I feel like I'm groping in the dark. I'm very lost as to what I should pursue.

I started doing research into different martial forms, starting with Wushu, (Yes, because of you Patrick) Capoeria, and Aikido, but all of them have small nuances that I find turn me away from their styles when I attempt to imagine glowsticking incorporated in it.

So, Here's what I'm looking for:
1.) I'm looking for a style of "dancing martial arts" that requires no previous physical proficiency. (Cuz, I'm kinda not fit).
2.) Has a local training ground in Southern California or in San Luis Obispo (I can find this)
3.) Something that fits well for glowsticking.

or if no martial arts suggestions match, dancing styles would also be appreciated.

duct tape suck glowsticks to your shoes, and start breakdancing

or you could take up tutting, then add glowsticks later

or popping, and learn how to accentuate with glowsticks

etc... >_> sry if i'm not helpful

See, the issue I have with tutting, popping and liquid because they are so common, I want something that has more implications with my physical well being. I know i'm being picky.

Hmmm, it still seems like you're primarily searching for a dance style rather than a martial art. It might be easier to ask instead what you are looking from martial arts that you wanted to add to your style. Granted, you see plenty of martial arts elements in dance and vice versa but it's difficult to name a style that could really be considered both other than Capoeira and maybe Taekkyeon off the top of my head.

Before joining GS.C, my style (if it even qualified to be one) had elements of Tai Chi in it. One inspiration of mine Hgltch from Floasis.net has a style of liquiding with elements of various kung-fu in it (Tai Chi, Nanquan, Ba Gua). In itself those concepts could be applied to glowsticking but I know you're looking for something rooted outside of the urban dance styles as well. However, I wouldn't necessarily dismiss any of the urban styles mentioned earlier as overly common as you can make them very personalized once you get a feel for it. Dave or Kristen could better answer questions in that area as to the numerous directions you could go with it.

Well think about what you want to get from glowsticking, you want to be a body mover or a pattern maker?

I'm a body mover.
I use liquid, tutting, gliding, popping, and waving in my style. As well as some martial arts inspired moves like wushu flowers, and some of my thread kick poses.

I even use my flexablity.

But it all depends on you. The first urban dance I really fell for with glowsticking was tutting and I learned it as a completely different style. Once I mastered it or felt I grasped the basics, I started using it in glowsticking.

Once you learn something you can really push it into glowsticking to see it transform into another level.

I really like just making up things that I think look intresting, those are the things that become "signature moves" that become a part of your style. I do weird threads and dodge bullets and now its like its my trademark.

I think learning the basics of waving would be appealing to you. Its basically muscle isolation but it really can make you feel the flow a lot of people are searching for.

Experiment my friend. You can find something that fits you style.

-Kristen

Thanks guys. I'm looking into martial arts more for the physical conditioning as well as for self-defense (like 1%) and most for the style. I might try waving. Is that like liquid?

You should take up toprock from breakdancing. It helps you isolate your legs while you glowstick with your arms.
