Rules of this Forum
if you are going to make a bold statement, provide evidence or at least a logical explaination for them. most topics disscussed here have no right or wrong answer, so give a reason for your opinion.
Personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated.
be respectful. acting like a munchkin will get you treated as such.
be supportive, although you may view one person's problem as trivial, to them, it may actually be a life or death issue.
sometimes, we all need to simply agree to disagree.
finally, there are no right or wrong answers, only opinions. so avoid the "you're wrong and are goig to burn in hell" or "well, you are just stupid" retorts when you don't like what someone has to say. no matter how hard you try, you cannot make someone agree with you if they don't see it that way.
Avoid intellectual dead-endsTry avoid using phrases like, "it's useless talking to you!" or "you are all one-sided and my opinions can't change you". Instead, follow the ways of socrates and try to INCREASE discussion by asking questions. Be OPEN-MINDED. This is just a forum and you are unlikely you will change anyone elses viewpoints, but you may learn a thing or two. Hypothetically accept viewpoints now and then for the sake of discussion and to fully understand their viewpoints.
Try to type on a level that's somewhat formal. Abreviations or slang words are not recommended because people will just not take you seriously.
Avoid cursing and slander.
DO reference your thoughts with links and outside references for people to peruse. That will encourage a sideways debate.
If a debate spurns a new side-debate, make a new thread, and be kind enough to link to the new thread.
Be DESCRIPTIVE in your topic descriptions.
PROOF-READ! Absolute correctness is not necessary, but people should at least get what you are saying.

what do you find to be the most powerful thing? can be anything money, food, gas, the mind, the heart. anything that functions to do something for me i feel it is without a doubt the mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDLGJJhmNdQbetwen that video to understand how much the mind does regarding DMT and other things. as well as all the other things the mind can do. just think EVERYTHING created. was created by the mind. the human being itself. could not funtion without the mind.

I have actually read that book. Good read. I'd probably say, for me, the most important thing is the spirit, soul, consciousness, or whatever word you want to put on it. Yeah, the brain may translate our 5 senses into something we can understand and "creates" our physical reality, but I feel it's this other essence that gives all of it meaning. But I guess the mind could be another word for it as well haha. Seeing as how the brain and the mind are two different things. Here's a random video that shows mainstream science is slowly coming around to consciousness and belief: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukbFvxusMMI

I'm not very articulate so I communicate through movie quotes. From The General's Daughter (1999): The human eye can distinguish 16 shades of gray. A computer image processor analyzing a fingerprint can distinguish 256 shades or gray, which is impressive. The human heart, mind and soul, can distinguish an infinite number of emotional, psychological and moral shadings. So I'd agree that the mind is the most powerful 'thing'. Though I hear adamantium is pretty strong too. (IMG: http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/yes.gif)

The bond between a parent and child.
The emotions and feelings and experiences I have regarding my daughter are by far the strongest of anything that I have ever gone through and will ever go through.

I would say space would be the most important thing if anything.
It holds the sun, earth, all the planets in alignment so the spin and move right so we all dont die

time is the most powerful thing in the universe. it will eventually destroy everything that was ever made. every civilization, animal species, planet, galaxy, everyTHING. nothing can not withstand the power of time.

QUOTE (Jamerson @ Jun 12 2009, 12:05 PM) The most powerful? How do we measure that? I was thinking has the most effects on our lives....and I say physics =D I agree...how do we measure that? Presently in my life, the most powerful would be loss. It's from loss (loss from or of anything/anyone) that lessons are learned, faith/hope is tested, and strength can be gained/regained.

I think perception is. Perception dictates what colors we recognize, perception dictates our actions. Hell, perception even dictates what gravity is and how we feel it works.

I agree with the mind, because if you think about how amazing ones mind really is. Especially under the effects of a mind altering drug you really notice how absolutely ridiculous the mind can be. Imagine if you had 100% complete control over your mind, you'd have damn near limitless potential.
