ok so recently a pattern has emerged. someone will be like holly crap what was that do it again, i'll never have any idea what i just did. hence i seem to do my best sticking when im not thinking about it at all.

which brings us to the title if you've seen the movie there is that part where tom cruise is learning to use a katana and failing miserably and the instructor says "too much mind" & "no mind" as hints. well i would say that is true of freehanding as well. the less you are thinking about doing that difficult toss or that perfect trace the easier it will be. of course this is when preforming, i think those hours of practice and muscle memory are the reason your able to flow without thinking about it.

im not able to do this on purpose it will just happen at random. so anyone have this happen or try to do it.

Yeah, I've hit this zone before. It's a different state of mind when you think less about the moves, and instead just feel them coming to you. Best description I heard of this was when Elvin was telling me why he spun fire. It cleared himself and the air around him. It was just him, the fire, and that was it (Hope I quoted you right). The same I guess goes for freehanding. I've hit this zone and it's beautiful, to where it is all about the glow and the music and it just clicks. But then, trying to keep that state is the hard part.

yea ive noticed that if i try to do tosses and really focus i drop it. even in the middle of the toss ill be doing fine then ill think whoa that looks good and ill fail miserably. i can totaly relate cuz when im performing, i feel like its no one there. just me my glows and the music. i think its the pulse from the music and the underlying synth pads that kinda take me to that zone or "world" if you will.
