POOR MAN'S POI

This is a collab to showcase the many different ways to make poi out of things you find laying around the house. kerosene soaked tennis balls on a dog leash....a roll of flamming duct tape, basically anything you can think of that you can light and spin...within reason, I dont want bad injury's bein caused by this. I want to do this collab for people like me who want to do fire poi....but maybe cant afford an actual set.

HOW TO SUBMIT

send all clips to cyberreaper666@ymail.com (sorry i dont have AIM)

RULES

~Clip's must be 15 to 45 seconds long
~Clip must show what you made your makeshift poi out of before you start spinning (like a close up of some extra material u had left over or something like that)
~Poi must be on fire (sorry if stating obviouse)
~Do not post clip before release or you will be deleted
~Must include a rating of how well your makeshift rig worked (between 1 and 5)
~Must be in low to dark light (about dusk would be good)

Dude, I can't even BEGIN to say how wrong this is. It doesn't matter how good of a fire poiist you are-- you can get serious injuries by jury-rigging a set of fire poi.

And for the people who aren't experienced but would be tempted to go "hey, that's true! let me try to light anything on fire so I can submit to this!" that's just begging for disaster.

If you were just spinning random unlit poi sets, I'd be all for it. Hell, I've spun everything from ID tags to stuffed animals.

But I'm not going to permit this collaboration unless it's unlit.

I understand your intent, but this is a seriously bad and extremely dangerous idea. Unlit is one thing, and to be honest would be pretty funny, but as soon as you bring fire into the picture, the entire game changes. Not only would it be dangerous, but it would come out to being borderline negligent to go setting kerosene soaked tennis balls on fire just for shits. If you want to make ghetto poi, there are a couple of safe-ish ways to do it, but i would strongly urge you to just buy a fire set. There are tons of sites, including ebay, where you can get a beginner set for around 30-40 bucks, much lower than a trip to the burn ward.

Anyway, don't take the harshness as a personal slight or anything, its just that safety is a pretty huge concern amongst fire spinners, simply because it only takes one horrible accident to ruin it for the entire community.

That said, if you are thinking of changing this to something to the tune of "Spin something thats not poi or glowsticks collab" then i'd be totally down. That'd be hilarious and awesome.

Either way, my points still stand, and i still think an anything but glowsticks or poi collab would be sweet.

Fire poi wouldn't exist if it weren't for the safety precautions that performers take. Just be careful: the injuries you may receive can be life threatening.
