Well, of course it's not the same. It's a different branch of lightshows. Sure it may not be hard or technical when you just see it, but I've seen some amazing orbitals and glove shows, and I think that it can grow, just like glowsticking can and does grow. I'd just say, let them be. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I personally do like gloves and orbits. Some people can do amazing amazing stuf with them.

^^ Doubt it. Like I've said in other posts...Orbits are limitted to a very small number of moves. Yes you can add more lights. Yes you can add different lights. But, it is still the same old stale move set. Gloves...psh...so essentially people go OoOoOOo because you made your hands full of lights look like a bug? Cool...shadow puppets have been around forever...same concept in reverse. Anything with lots of bright flashy lights at 6 inches from your face looks cool. Especially sine the majority of the people watching are tweaking out on something (majority...not all).

yeah at almost every rave i go to there is always a tons of kids with gloves to kids with strings or just free hand i see orbits from time to time but not many and if i do see them i dont really pay mind cause its not really that great to look at gets boring quick. and gloves its all flashy but ive seen plenty of ppl who "think" they can glove just cause they can move there hands all fast but i do give props to ppl that give trances with gloves cause they can get real technical but i only know one person that does that lol i personally glowstring and at edc this year i saw a good number of stringers but the ratio between "glovers" to stringers was like 10:1 and it was kinda depressing to me (IMG: http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yeah when i was in hawaii all people cared about are gloves and orbits. They say "glowsticks" only attract newbs and i said.... people who use glowsticks have way more skill an new people cant help it when i first started raving i did not know what a inova light is or a freedom light. Bottom line im old school and glowsticks go the hardest from all the other lights ill give more props to a glowsticker then a glove set. Only reason why people love gloves is because theres 10 lights in front of you u have to trip out when u see them

I luv it when your tossing glowsticks and you dont even have to look to catch them and time is going by so slowly i call it..... (BUllet Time)

I'm pretty sure orbits have plateaued a long time ago. As for gloves I can see that pushed a little farther. But the people who are actually good with gloves is very slim.

Yeah, definitely a plateau for orbiting. I got pretty much everything and then some down in under a week. I tried moving it around more, not standing in one place, dancing with it...you still can't take it particularly far. to quote a certain EC bastard, it's one of those things that "you give to your girlfriend to have something that looks cool because she can't do anything else"-- people just do it 'cos it's flashy and makes awesome long-exposure photos.
Gloves...don't impress me that much but some people are really passionate about them, so cheers.

i think gloves have potential in liquid/freehand...
but even more awesome would be taking the lights from the gloves, attaching them to the bottom part of you nail or before that first knuckle and playing any musical instrument in the dark with that... as a pianist, yes, i think of these things.

After EDC and seeing so many people with them and giving the most horribly boring light shows ever I really do not like them anymore. I am not saying that people who are good with them don't exist. I just feel that they deviate too many people away from actually learning how to be decent glow stickers. They are gimmicky and great for E tards. I saw a gloving crew called the Lords of Light (They had t shirts) and used a great deal of my energy to suppress the vomiting.

Lords of Light...Lol i remember actually meeting them. They all pretty much suck, they like to hang around The Heist (club at florentine gardens on thursdays).
Gloves will always be the easier alternative to glowsticking...

To each their own. If everyone liked the same things, life would be boring.

Rave and let rave. Not everyone plays with lights because they are trying to be dancers. Gloves and orbits have been around for a while, and while they arent being pushed in the same dance direction as glowsticking, many people find them entertaining and have fun using them. Hell, when glowsticks first showed up at raves they werent used for dancing. just good ol' fashioned lightshows. Just because your not impressed with something doesnt mean it doesnt belong. Orbits are fun to watch during a lightshow (I agree, they are limited, but they are fun to watch for a minute), and i've seen some REALLY impressive gloves (Wonton and Teardrop.) If you dont wanna watch it, dont, but there is no reason to knock it.

It's just fact that most glovers just want the "flashy" attention (personal experiences) without the work and effort involved into practicing freehand or spinning; as seen on most websites that sell orbits, orbits are shown as an easy way to achieve the "flashy" skills of an experienced spinner.

If you dont wanna watch it, dont, but there is no reason to knock it. 90% of the time, I choose not to watch them, because I unfairly assume most of them will be the same, but that's me, it may be knocking it, but there's also no reason to defend something that you're not all THAT adamant about. What you said is true, but a majority of people who go around giving lightshows with gloves, or just going around trying to wow people with "mad light show skillz" are doing it for the recognition, like said "Lords of Light". I mean, they're the "Lords". No one is saying that there aren't any good conjurers or glove artists out there, but most aren't as good as they say they arem or good for that matter, is what I believe most people are trying to say.

Old story has it that, as we go through life we really don’t change, we just become more of the same. You look around you as the years go by and it seems a very valid premise. People don’t change. As a matter of fact, most of us resist change very strongly. Yet change is a sure thing, the only variable is rate; slow we read as evolution, and fast as revolution. ಠ_ಠ (´・ω・)つ(・(・ (。◕‿◕。)The Sandbawks: Wasting time since ioh nein! |||(°ℇ °)||| Most recent vidya: Concentration Demo092010
