Well, it is generally accepted that if you have short strings, your moves will come off faster, but you have to think faster. Longer strings are more of a poi influencable. I'd say play with your string grips. Maybe there is a way for you to use both long and short strings, letting it get longer for certain moves, and short for others.

i go by arm length, so it still looks normal in proportion to the rest of your body.

I find it easier to keep one hand above the other and just a litttttle bit in front too. Arm wraps? just practice practice. Try em with one hand, then pick up your other string and just spin it and wrap the other string.

EDIT: also it helps if you exaggerate your arm movements. like for the butterfly, spin super stupidly slow and move your hands up and down with the strings. it helps alot!!!

GO SLOW!!!! like stupidly slow, like the glowsticks hardly have enough momentum to spin all the way around slow.

do what ever you think feels best. you can start off with any length it doesnt matter because once you're comfortable with it you can try other lengths and integrate both into your stringing. im a short person and i used long strings when i first started out. now that im comfortable with it i've started trying shorter strings by shotgunning and switching back and forth. the only problem with this is that you cant really do one handed moves because the strings are so long.

The length of the string depends on your body. What a lot of people do is measure it out so when you wrap it around your hand three times the stick ends up landing perfectly in your hand.. Its not a good idea to have it any longer than your entire arm or shorter then your elbow.. but its up to you to decide on what length you like best.

If you have longer strings you can also do whats called wrapping up. Let it wrap once around your hand and the string will get a lot shorter.

3 times? I think its 2 times. it usually makes it the perfect length for bicep wraps and just short enough to do buzzsaws and such. atleast thats what i do.

measure so that from where your holding the string, it wraps twice around your hand and the glowstring lands in your hand. 3 times seems a bit too long to me.

like every one has said go slow like really slow eventually it will burn into your muscle memory then you can easily speed it all up

wraps? just work with one hand at a time then eventually do wraps with one hand while the other is spinning. check out he wraps 101 tutorial on youtube it may help

also string length? im still expermenting with mine but ive ended up liking the 45" shoelaces and then toy with how you wrap it some ppl on youtube have tutorials on how to tie your laces i tie mine like guinto he has a tutorial on how to wrap em try it out just look up how i tie my strings guinto it should show up

good luck and have fun stringing!!!

Learn duowraps. Then learn some speed. Don't shorten your strings just because everyone tells you to.

Maybe you're short for a reason... it'll mean you can do stuff that other people can't do.

i disagree -.- your just closer to the ground, so you need shorter strings so you don't hit the floor.

p.s. I'm short too (IMG:http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Exactly, but you don't necessarily have to use shorter strings. You're still thinking in terms of "I want to do the moves". What about the moves that we taller people haven't thought of? Smaller may mean that you're more acrobatic, or that your max speed is higher.
