    What's Flickr.com?
It's a photogallery on the internet. You can use it to upload photos, and for the purposes of GSC, mark your photos to be shared by the GSC group. Its also part social networking, you can find some remarkable good photographers on Flickr, so come for gsc, but stay for you own interest.

I need help but cant get ahold of one of the admins!
Be patient, we try to be available, but if you are haveing problems with flickr itself consult their faq.
    http://www.flickr.com/help/faq/

    Do I need to register?
yes you do. although if you have a yahoo account you are already registered.

The glowsticking.com photo group is located here. Anyone can join:
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/glowsticking

How do I make a photo part of that group?
You press organize on top, and then drag your photo to a group you are a part of. I suggest you put glowsticking.com photos in its own sets organized by event. i labeled one of my sets:
    GSC: Electric Daisy Carnival 2006
GSC: Electric Daisy Carnival Meetup 2006

That's a good way to keep it consistant.

it's also a good idea to tag all of your photos as well. geo tagging will also organize by region so in the future we can see all pics from a particular region. the glowsticking.com photo gallery page will link to those locations in the future.

How do i see all the photos in the group?
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/glowsticking/pool/

How do I see all the photos in a particular category?
Search for it in the pool.

Okay, that's kind of a hassle, how do I make a simple link?
Search for something like "EDC", and you can reuse the link the browser generates. For example:
    http://www.flickr.com/search/groups/?q=edc...49%40N00&m=pool

    or "NYC"
    http://www.flickr.com/search/groups/?q=nyc...49%40N00&m=pool

We plan to have keywords that the admin and users will always use and will be required to use. For example

glowsticking.com [where] [year#] meetup (include if it's a meetup) official (if taken or uploaded by official photographer)

where tags: socal, norcal, chicago, nyc, philadelphia, utah, texas, florida, australia, taiwan (add more later)
    year: 2005 2006 2007

that way we can make it simple for people to link to a particular set of photos in the future on the page we plan to have that links to all of those.

Where will be the GSC gallery link page be?
    http://www.glowsticking.com/galleryf.php

What are some other resources regarding Flickr?
    http://www.quickonlinetips.com/archives/20...ols-collection/

I see something neat that would go well on the glowsticking.com site from the above link, can I suggest something?
    Yes. Post in this thread.

I ran out of space on my regular flickr gallery. What do I do?
    1) Make a new account just for GSC pictures. You get 100 megs of bandwidth a month. Do the smart thing and save money by resizing your pictures first. If you have windows XP you can use image resizer powertoy. Convert your photos to 800x600 or less. upload the smaller pictures (the resizer also seems to optimize it well) and keep your high resolution originals for yourself: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx

There are numerous easy uploading tools so you can upload all your pictures at once: http://www.flickr.com/tools/

    2) Buy yourself a flickr account, like I did. it's 25 bucks a year and it's unlimited storage not just for GSC photos, but for your own photo collection too. I decided I'm rather trust flickr's backup system than mine (and you can pay to archive to DVD's too). you can do a lot of cool things with flickr like print out cool cards (www.moo.com) that are colorful and vibrant.

    3) Apply to be a photographer, and you will be granted access to the official GSC account that is paid for by GSC. You will probably most likely get this only if you have a track record already and consistantly always take good meetup and party pics.

What kind of pics do you want if i was a photographer?
Trust me when I say this is that we have so many friggin pictures of freehand trails and glowstring trails that it's overloading our heads. It might look cool the first few times, but there are way too many. We would rather focus on cool artistic or people shots. Like meetup pictures. Or pictures where you see someone pose. Artistic shots in general are preferred when we look for photographer. or just pictures of members at parties and meetups.

What other role as a photographer do I have?
Promote GSC by taking pictures at parties. Go up to random people. Take their pictures. And tell them it's gonna be up on GSC (just click on gallery on top). give them a business card (which you will get once you start taking lots of pictures).

Other roles including just hanging out with everyone at meetups and getting them comfortable and forcing people to stand together to get group shots. Get some interesting shots out there.

What kind of digital camera would i need?
Something with flash. phone cameras generally have bad quality but there are some good ones, so who knows. But any $120 (and even less, used) and up camera usually is perfectly fine. Anyway, just register on flickr.com and start using it.
As far as well priced point and shoot cameras, here are some links to newegg.

What should I tag my photo's with? And what are tags anyway?
Tags are like keywords or labels that you can add to a photo to make it easier to find later. You can tag a photo with tags like "catherine yosemite hiking mountain trail" and then later on if you are looking for pictures of Catherine you can just click on that tag and get all photos that have been tagged that way.

You may also have the right to add tags to some of your friends' photos, because the ability to add tags is one of the things which you can allow access to in the privacy settings for your photos.

    The gsc format is this:
    glowsticking.com [what] [where] [year] [meetup/official]

    for example:
"glowsticking.com" "electric daisy carnival" "california" "socal" "2006" "meetup"

where the quotation marks denote individual tags

Your tags are really important so make sure you do them, We also have regional tags and thus if you would like your region added to the gallery, suggest it in this thread.

After much drama i made a new flickr account as morolen As for the amount of pics you can upload to the group pool, i think you can change it in the settings somewhere. atleast i know you can change it to max of 3 photos per day, there are several groups im in that limit to that to prevent flooding.
also, i will make tutorials on how to do everything on there with screenshots, maybe getting some of them done tonight or sunday or monday night, but soon.

what i mean is that your individual account can only hold about 200 photos before they get hidden away. you spend your own account bandwidth when you post to group.

    first you join the group.

then you go to "organize" on top of your screen. you click and drag photos to the group (you can do a select all command somehow). you can do this by first going to that group in the group tag. this will open up the group photo pool.

then on the bottom you see a little drop down on the bottom left i believe. you pick your set. those will now load. you then select all of those photos and drag em.
