So, I'm currently in the process of adding all the mediacenter videos from 2006 down to youtube. While I got a somewhat lengthy deadline, I'll be trying to get it up as fast as possible (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

As of right now, I'm tagging all videos "year glowstick glowsticks rave raving glowsticking glowstringing stringing dance dancing glowsticking.com"

And for the description I'll be using the author's description in conjuction with "If you like these videos feel free to check out www.glowsticking.com - the premiere online community and resource for anything related to dancing with glowsticks. Check out glowstickingdvd.com for the DVD."

If there are any complaints, suggestions, or questions, feel free to pm me or post in this thread. I will be trying to do this job to the best of my ability, but if there's something you think I can do better, let me know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Update 02/13/07: Any and all videos that are in the mediacenter are subject to removal from youtube.com UNLESS they are uploaded by the account "Glowstickingdotcom" or the personal accounts of the person who made the video. If you find a mediacenter video that has been uploaded by someone other than these two, please pm me the link so I can have them removed. Thank you.

shouldnt you put freehand in one of the tags???

sorry if i'm wrong, but didn't dave say to only put up the vast archive and not the most recent videos because he wants people to actually join gs.c to see our latest stuff?
sorry again if i'm wrong lol

--------------------

When I describe a move as "aerial" I am talking about what we used to call the move set of poi in glowstringing.

Why? Because the word poi is what's used for the art of poi, and is mixed up every freaking day when people are referring to either the move set called poi in glowstringing or are referring to the art itself.

If you're glowstringing I call it aerial, if not then I don't care what they're called.

Grah, didn't even realize Freehand wasn't a tag... I'll update that tonight. Also, Dave gave the go-ahead to upload all glowstick/string videos excluding 2007...

Thanks for pointing out that mistake (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

i think when you tag the videos with the year, you should say more than "Pre-2005" for the videos filmed before 2005. the reason why is because if your looking for a video from 2001, no ones is going to think... "hmm, its before 2005, so i should type in pre-2005," u kno what im sayin?
also, you could probably find a better tag to fit in rather than the year imo, just because i dont think that anyone is going to type in the year when looking for a video. i mean i never have, and i doubt any others have either.
just my opinions =]

Well, originally the format for the titling of the video was "Glowsticking.com Style200X" so it would be something like Glowsticking.com Freehand2006: Co-Ray Anti-Tube. Dave said the year in the title was unnesecary, and to put it in one of the tags. Also, all the videos are going into playlists. I got freehand 2006 down to pre-2005 and the same for stringing. Also, even though noone will type in 2005 or anything, it's there just so people can see when it was filmed without having to find it in the playlists... Also, most of the pre-2005 videos have a date on them already (ex 8.08.02). I think this format, while not the most informing on the EXACT date of filming, is the least confusing... Also, it's the same style as our mediacenter as well.

wait... since the video has the date on the title, why would you need the date in the tag? if you say that its in the tag so people can tell when its filmed without having to find it in the playlist.

MOST of them have it in the title, not all. There are some without. It's just easier to follow the same format for all of them instead of doing one type on one then another on the next video. It simplifies the process. And as I said, I wanted it to follow and be named the same as the mediacenter...

isn't the tag only for search purposes?? for search tags this is what i like to use to get the general audience. i doubt anyone would search "2005" on youtube.

"glowstick glowsticks rave raving glowsticking glowstringing stringing funk liquid tut pop dance dancing glowsticking.com"

great job so far tho! =)

this is a little nitpicking just because i am a perfectionist. i like the way you named the title (with glowsticking.com and the dance style in front, then a semi-colon, then the dancer name, then date). but the dates are in various formats, some are month.date.year, some are month/date/year, and some have ( ) around the dates.

^^ again freehanding was excluded.. where is the love?? o.O

and hmmm.. just a thought.. what about juggling as a tag? i'm not sure about it, but it might swing some wayward you tubers our way.. =)

and btw, i think including the year isnt a terrible idea i mean, "pre-2005" as a tag is a little bit rediculous, but its pretty simple to find out what year a video was made... i dont know, do whatever your heart desires : )

Just a thought from reading one of the other threads...

I think it was the Chicago Comp that someone mentioned getting infringed or whatever... so why doesnt someone take it down, add the bottom corner GSC tag to it, and then re-upload it for future usage? Yes, I realize that a LOT of people have probably seen and/or downloaded it without the tag..but it could cut back some confusion, right? *shrug*

..jus a thought

i'll have to admit chicago comp not being tagged is one of my biggest oversights early on in my video making career. i regret it every day.

it's easier said than done though, since i also added the glowstickers' names at the bottom right hand corner, which makes adding the logo... slightly more compicated. =\

@Wes, First off thanks for the compliment (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . Secondly, as far as the date on the tags go, that just makes it easier for me to sort them into playlists. I think that in the future when all the videos are up, I may remove that tag since they'll have the date in the title and in the playslist. Also, thanks for pointing out the inconsistency in the dating. I just copied/pasted the titles, but I'll do a run through and make them the same format.

@Spazz, I like the idea of a juggling tag... I think it will only apply to freehanding videos, though. I changed Wes' tag a bit by request so it doesn't have funk, liquid, tut, and pop (I may re-add liquid and tut to freehanding, though). I got freehanding as a tag for freehand videos, and stringing for stringing videos. Also, as far as the date goes, in your mind copy/paste my response to Wes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

@Dave, I just contacted youtube today about both some copyright issues and the fact that videos are automatically reject for copyright issues when uploaded by me. I explained that there was a disclaimer saying we could distribute the video in any way and to prevent us from uploading videos that are ours didn't make sense. I hope to get a response for a solution soon. Spazz's video was one of the ones that gets automatically rejected because of copyright breaking :/
