When I describe a move as "aerial" I am talking about what we used to call the move set of poi in glowstringing.

Why? Because the word poi is what's used for the art of poi, and is mixed up every freaking day when people are referring to either the move set called poi in glowstringing or are referring to the art itself.

If you're glowstringing I call it aerial, if not then I don't care what they're called.

Real name: Ryan

Type(s) of dancing: (Light Related) - Freehand, Glowstaff, Conjuring (Non Light Related) - Liquid Pop, Tutting, Waving, Locking

How long you have been dancing: I got into glowsticks, glowstaff, LED's and basic liquid in april 2001, the first time I ever went to a club. I started popping / tutting / waving / locking sometime around the spring/summer of 2003

Where you are from: North Texas, 45min north of Dallas

How you learned: (Light Related) - Freehand...First saw people in a club doing it and started doing it in front of the mirror all the time. Glowstaff...Nobody to learn from but myself, and what I'd seen of staff use in martial arts scenes in movies. LED's...Created my own thing, but picked up conjuring from seeing a few people at raves doing it. Basic liquid...Taught myself accidentally by constantly practicing glowsticking freehand without the glowsticks. (Non Light Related) - The popping / tutting / waving / locking I picked up from downloading videos off the net. The first vids I saw, and the vids that got me interested, were from the Liquid Pop Collective. Then I found videos of other funk styles that I've incorporated into what I do.

How you recommend beginners learn: Watch videos and practice practice practice. If you can't practice at a particular time, while that time is going by think about practice, and new moves you could do and how to improve on things you already know how to do. Mirrors and video cameras help a tremendous amount, just don't dance more than 50% of the time in front of the mirror or you'll become dependant on it.
