Those really aren't tutorial videos, they just show/define what each one is. A tutorial video should go in more depth explaining everything with what's going on.
For instance, with the hand stall. The way you toss the stick, and the way your hand is layed out, is very crucial, especially when setting a hand stall up with a horizontal heli toss. None of these videos explain anything about that.
I think for future tutorial videos, they need to be more in depth and every angle covered. This especially goes for the stringers. I've seen some string manipulation tutorials, and it was nearly impossible to see what was going on.
Anyone agree? Disagree?

Anyone agree? Disagree? COMPLETELY DISAGREE :] These are what have been helping me I am a what is it a kinetic learner? through visuals and actually doing it omg I just learned figure 8 and stomache tracing in a matter of 30mins of practicing and that is not evne alot of time. it just takes skills and time and practice to through these skills in your technique style performance w.e these are perfect videos. Thank you so much ginseng and all who posted tutorials on it.

I'd have to agree with Ono on this one, allthough they do show in detale how its performed, and like Aspect, you can learn quite a lot from plain visuals, a tutorial is supposed to explain and make sense of these moved to help place the skills up unto a higher grade. You might be able to do these tricks from watching them, but you'll never get any better then what they show without learning hand positions, differant ways of holding a stick, stalling and balanceing and throw & catch. After learning those, you can create your own style based on the exploration of the movement of your body, with the knowlage of grips and hand positions you could even re-invent these moves without even seeing them or knowing they existed.

In defense of most of us freehanders...we don't want video tutorials a lot... I started out the same way when it came to tutorials, but Ginseng has kinda pushed me into the whole text based descriptions. Text based leads you to use your imagination and take from it what you like...Dave's quote of "Stringers give up infinite for perfect while freehanders give up perfection for infinite" can be applied to this. The basic few moves such as figure-8, helicopter and stomach trace are good for tutorials, but tosses and tracing and other concepts are best taught through text. That is partially why you will rarely see a Ginseng tutorial video...unless you want to know how to make your ultras glow brightly (IMG: http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
