Hey to everybody from Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Burnaby, Mission, Langley, and everybody else within a couple hours' drive! (Squamish, Chilliwack, Harrison, Whistler, Hope, whatever!)

I'm interested in getting to know all of you. Glowstickers in our area are scarce, but I do know that there are a few of us. So, if you are interested in getting to know other people around here, post! Tell us how you got into the scene, what state you live in, whether you glowstick or glowstring, etc.

BC STICKERS, UNITE!

Hey peeps.

I live South Slope Burnaby, close to Boundry Rd.

Ever since i can remember i have always loved glowsticks. The only time i ever got to use them was for halloween. about 3-4 years ago i bought my first set of poi. Tennis balls with keychain hooks, chain, finger straps ($20). I never really tried any moves other then Butter fly, 3-beat weave, chase the sun. Around april my parents went away for about 4 weeks. i saw a couple vids on youtube of what people were doing and i was hooked. I moved the coffee table out of the way, turned to channel 408 on our tv (rave music, no picture) id practice a few wraps for a while, run abck into computer room, watch a video, run back out, practice more.

Still very new to everything, so my knuckels, arms, legs, neck are all tender from wraps.

Wow, school totally put this thread out of my head. Meh, it's grade 10, but still. I don't like it.

Anyway. Vt wanted to have a meetup on sept 29th or something, but it wasn't that good of a day for me, and I think for the people i had in mind for bringing, and it was short anyway.

Lets get your input, would you rather have a meetup outside, or inside? If inside, where? If outside, when? The weather is lousy here in van (as it always is) and I don't fancy glowsticking in the rain. Tried it once, and I never want to do it again =P

Oh, and if any of you guys have friends that glowstick, if they don't want to be on gsc at least have them tag along when we have a meetup. But, ideally, get them on so they can post here too and we can all brainstorm some ideas.

Personally, I got into glowsticking at a friend's New Year's Eve party this year. We were all... in altered states, and one of my friend started to freehand, and well I was all like, ooh cool. I tried to do some freehand stuff, but then I came to glowsticking.com (shit it was lucky that I searched for 'glowsticking' on google!) and I found out about stringing. I was excited about that cause it felt way technical and I wanted the technical challenge as opposed to the creative aspect about freehand. I got into most of my EDM after that.
So I owe it to my buddy, who I think I'll be bringing along to the meetup as well.

I think we should create a new thread on the GVD meetup instead of privately PMing eachother so we can all put our thoughts in. Also, would also allow other random members from around Vancouver to know about the meetup.

Well, I don't know if we need a new thread until we actually have something to go on. We can still discuss it in here. That way people who stumble across this can get it all at once (because we know how bad people are at checking the regional forum often).

Right. Just getting active again, but I'm really rusty when it comes to freehand since I've taken a break of about a year.

I'm up for any kind of meetup, as long as it isn't in early December or late April because of exams.

[Edit]
I won't be practicing/start to practice for a week to 2 weeks, mainly because I picked up a the worst finger sprain I ever had from sports when playing goalie in footy/soccer...

Ouch.

Well I think we're pretty open right now. I'm not very hot for sticking in freezing temperatures. There's an event coming up but I don't know if you'd be able to attend due to exams... but yeah, just remember to check back here every once and then. I'll PM you if we come up with anything.

So how did you get into the whole glowsticking/rave/electronic dance music scene?
