im not sure if its a phase or is it me or what is it . im a person, when i focus on something, i give my soul into perfecting it . i put my whole heart into it . then these past 2 mths, iv been trying to step up a level on my stringing, before that it was a lil freehand and the figure 8 that got it all started . i used to listen to 20% hip hop 80% trance .. now its like 98.5% trance . and all i think about is steping up my stringing and wanna go bust a move at a trance club or massive . i feel its like a culture that cannot be accepted in the open light, people would look at me differently . the music and the sticks . and im slowly drifting away from all my friends . maybe cause of conflict of interest . im not sure .. but suddenly im on this dark lil island standing there alone . .staring in the dark . holding my glowsticks ..

    does anyone feels the same?

God, yes; especially when I figured out a scene I could dive into whole-heartedly.

I've drifted a great deal from my friends since my trip to NY for Exit, but the chasm forming had already existed. It's hard for me to not want to imitate popping movements or follow a beat when I'm listening to my EDM. .

I feel like a shadow of my former self, but not so much in a bad way, you know?

I want to go to another massive or meet-up very soon and I don't care where.

First, not to sound like a prick, but can we get this moved? Cause I think it's in the wrong section of the forums.

Second, yeah, I know what you mean. Not to the point of total isolation (or atleast as a result of just the music I listen to) because I do have a few friends that are into glowsticking, listening to EDM, and going to raves/parties/events (or whatever the fuck else you want to call it). It's when I'm not hanging out with those friends but rather with my friends from the other scenes I am into and I get that craving to listen to EDM, or just start dancing period, that I feel isolated from that group at that time. The same tends to happen if you were to flip the situation (i.e. I am hanging out with my friends from this scene and I get the urge to start listening to say...The Subhumans or Bauhaus or Assemblage 23).

Really, it's a matter of whom you feel you can connect to at that time/overall. Also, often times such rifts in friendships occur before one is introduced to the scene, just not as obviously. Ask yourself this in regards to your current friends, do you feel yourself connecting to them at all outside of just music related interests? If no, then I hate to sound crass and harsh, but get yourself some new friends whom you can relate to.

And for the record, if this did not make any sense to anyone as to how it has to do with the original topic, disregard what I just said. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I can totaly understand where you come from, One half of my friends enjoy anything that's Electronic, the other half think it's either Electrosludge or only enjoy EBM and Noise(I gotta say though, SOME Merzbow is nice. =p)

I personally enjoy Stringing to "The Legendary Pink Dots" so fucking much. I'm actually thinking about using a song or two in a video (If I ever get a camera)

Anyways, as for the rave scene, I can safely say that if there is, or was a boundary between the Goth/Industral Scene and the Rave scene, I'm standing on it.

(I'm STILL not a graver, btw, I don't even dress "Goth" when I go to an Assemblage 23 show =P)
