So this is just a general place to get discussion going on both airsoft and paintball with the intended outcome of organizing get togethers with fellow GSC'ers if we can get enough people together. Post up which you prefer (or both) and where you're at so others can find you. Feel free to include whatever equipment you have. I'll be updating this with lists of people for contacts as well as fields. And, send it! I like both airsoft and paintball, but I prefer airsoft because it's cheaper in the long run.
Airsoft has a higher up front cost because the gun can be rather pricey, though a custom tuned paintball gun can be equally pricey but isn't necessarily as essential as in airsoft. A decent airsoft gun can run $200-400 whereas a paintball gun can run $50-300.
Airsoft has way cheaper ammo though. 2000 bbs often costs less than $10 whereas 2000 paintballs can be $30+ with fields requiring their own paint to be used.
I also prefer the longer ranges that airsoft often takes place at.
I live in Huntington Beach, CA and am down to travel just about anywhere in SoCal for a good game. I only own airsoft: VSR-10 Sniper Rifle, heavily modified, and a CO2 M9. Also have 3 friends who usually play as well, and between them we have access to an M4, SR-16, M-16, P-90, MP-5, and about a dozen pistols. We're always happy to let others borrow guns and gear.

I will play both, but would rather go for paintball.
Currently Im in South Korea, and play at the Camp Casey field. When Im home, I will be in the Dallas, Texas region. I know there is a paintball field in Lewisville, and then DFW Adventure Park.
I currently own a slightly modified Spyder MR1, a stock Tippmann X7, and will soon own a CCI Phantom.
-GSC Members- DJ Broly also paintballs, and is in the Dallas region. Not sure on airsoft. SeeYourF8 plays airsoft, or at least used to. Dallas region.
I can probably convince a bunch of other GSC people to play too. As far as non GSC people, I know at least 7 people in the Dallas region that paintball. And again, could probably get some more to play.
Oh, and Opacus, 50 to 300 is really cheap for paintball markers.. Most performance speedball markers are upwards of 1500, without upgrades. Ive seen some crazy custom woodsball markers that are a good 800. And its at least 50 for quality paint. 30 dollars buys some mediocre rec sport paint that either doesnt break, breaks too easy, or flies horrible.

I have only ever gone Paintballing, never played with Airsoft, I heard it's no fun cause you can't even tell when the little balls hit you =/ I live in Waukesha, WI. But I don't play all the time, and I only go on sundays, because everything is free. You just gotta pay for paint and if you wanna upgrade your rental gun. Which I do, cause I really like that Tipmann 98 Custom. I wanna buy one. This is where I go: http://www.appaintball.com/

i like both but i preffer airsoft cause its cheaper and i can actualy afford to customise my weapons (IMG: http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) me and my friends go to the woods every 2 weeks and we use a combination of airsoft and paintball guns i carry dual wielded automatic airsoft pitols with a silencer a laser and black light equipped to it for up close combat and a long range semi automatic rifle equipped with a silencer and mid-range scope for long distance (we use 6mm painballs for the airsoft guns) we also use paintball guns everynow and then idk what brand they are though cause my friend brings them when we go to the woods i like to wear camo cargo shorts and a black shirt and i break twigs and leaves of the trees and put them on myself and i just camp up there with my semi the person who has less paint on them wins i hear footsteps now i can see someones shadow i shoot and they dont know where the shot came from thanks to my camo and silencer XD BTW Sasquatch we should round up people and see if we can go paintballing sometime

Well, like I said, when you start going for performance and custom loadouts you can easily spend thousands of dollars, be it airsoft or paintball (hell, this beauty goes for over 2000). I was just giving average, entry-mid level, doesn't shoot like crap estimates. And the 30-45 dollar paint was based off the house paint that a few of the fields nearby require. Like everything else, you can pay even more for quality anything, same with bbs. Also, I was looking for that field you mentioned in Lewisville. Is it Gatsplat indoor fields? @ Earring, you can usually tell when you're getting hit. At long range it will just bounce off like with paintball and you may not feel it, but you can often hear it hit you. At mid range you usually feel it, and at close range you will hurt. You can look online and find pics of people that got chipped teeth or holes in their ear from close range bb hits.

ok well personally I like paintball better and the best part is I can get the paint for cheap. like really cheap. So if the concern is expensive paint then let me know how many you want to get and I can give an estimate to about how much it would be.

Opacus: I kind of figured that you were giving out some entry level stuff. But if you ask me, anything under 200 dollars for a marker makes that marker in question a target. The 200 to 300 range isnt too bad, but still iffy. And yes, I think Gatsplat is the field in Lewisville. I never actually got to go, so I dont remember the name. Its on pbreview.com though.
Ninja: I would love to do that, except Im in Korea right now. Lol.

bomb, don't you play both? And getting cheaper paint is great but doesn't help when a field requires you to use their overpriced crappy paint. But we can always go out to the middle of nowhere and do stuff on our own (IMG: http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

paint prices have never been a big issue for me. i play conservatively, and not very often, so i can afford to spend $40+ bucks per 2000 if i do so every couple months.
i suppose it is just a matter at how much you shoot. i mean, if you are really good with a double trigger and have one of those fancy electronic hoppers, then you are going to use a lot of paint. especially if you use an etrigger or all that other jazz.
i like woodsball more; speedball is a little too fast (minute long games not my thing).
i play mainly at splat tag in hudson wisconsin, and at action packed paintball games in jordan minnesota. when i have time
another place in the twin cities is splatball, but it really sucks because its in a garage/basement of a building with little space and no ventilation. apparently they have another place somewhere north of the twin cities, but i have never been there.

I would be down for either I don't have a paintball gun or airsoft gun though. Paintball in the woods is pretty amazing though I might add.

Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Whenever we decide to do anything I'll happily let people borrow equipment. More people playing the better. Plus you get to try different things and see what you like. Plus there's equipment rentals for paintball at paintball fields.

Don't worry about guns, we can buy cheap ones and just all go at it =), its the bonding that matters... The owning each other is a + though =)

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the cheap airsoft guns. They shoot for crap. I remember one that shot everywhere except the can I was aiming at. And they are the ones that you tend not to feel cuz they shoot so weak. Running around with friends and everyone has a crap gun can be fun, but the instant you go anywhere with a decent gun shooting back at you and you're like "great, I can't do anything except sit here and wait to get tagged." Which was me, my first time at Hollywood Sports.

I like paint ball. I haven't been able to find people to play with me though, recently. I have my own gun, and I can't use it unless I go to WalMart to get air and shoot at my fences in my back yard.
Opacus, I looked at the link for the Texas fields. Did you know about Predator? It's not listed there. Here's the link if you wanna check it out (IMG:http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Predator Paintball
If anyone in Texas wants to meet up and play me, Message me and BRING IT ON!!

I've just been reposting whatever people post. Although I think that's the wrong link because that field is in NC.
*edit: did find what looks to be the one you're talking about though, posting that one.
