I tried to achieve it by myself. I tried so many way to move my hands around but it doesn't seem smooth and doesn't look good at all. I practice infront of the mirror that's why I know hom I am doing on this move.
Does any of you free-hander got any tip on this move? I would appreciated you a lot!
Well, I know its gonna be hard to just explain by text. If you got a tutoring vids on the move that would be awesome!

there is a vid by chennehchis and poweruser 86 *scratches head* it was on the old version's media centre, but that isn't up yet. you can go onto slsk and ask for it there...
tip for following the vid, go slowly and pay attention to the hand movements and how the stick rolls. its a lot of wrist movement too

keep the sticks parallel at all times ... if you correctly do that, there is only one natural way for your hands/wrists/fingers to move (IMG:

easier said than done tho. this is not a beginner move...i suggest you master some of the basic moves before you start worrying about the helicoptor (IMG:

lol i got the heli down before I even have a single stall perfect..there's another thread.. Here:
http://www.glowsticking.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=392Read that..there are a few tips from there..
but..it really needs time to get it down..so as long as your patient, sometimes it just comes without you really noticing.
But if you dont see any progress at all from the video or from constantly practicing..I'll try using my webcam so you can see it from a different angle..(I tried with Viet boi...i still don't think he has it though)..the only thing I ask you is to not jump on the bandwagon and really practice first..

I got it down after a long night of painting and my wrists were really stretched out cause we painted that took us hours and I just grabbed my sticks when we were done, put my hands up in the air got the right starting positions for my hands and BLAH!!! I did it and I have been practicing since...I've smoothed it out a good but now and am working on making it bigger than smaller then back visa versa and it honestly I would say that it is one of my favorite things to link my traces and combos together
One thing to remember when beginninng or starting out on a move like the Heli fig 8 is that YOU NEED TO START OUT SLOW..AND PRACTICE IT THAT WAY. I know it isn't the fuunest thing to do but if you try and go fast at full speed when beginninng you won't develope the correct technique and will spend more time smoothing it out and being frustrated than you would if you started out SLOW and got the technique down in the beginning

You just have to figure out how to move your wrist comfortably to do it... you may have to make it so the sticks can move in your grip so you don't have to flex as much. Just sit down and figure out what works for you... everyone seems to have a different technique to this move. That is the great thing about freehand... there is no certain way to do things.

If you already have it down, it's just a matter of training your wrists to move the opposite direction. In most cases it takes people some time to get this move down, so by the time you finally get it, you have practiced it a bunch and it becomes muscle memory. The problem with this is it makes it seem that much more unatural to go the opposite direction. Just practice and it will come to you eventually.

It's just one of those moves not everyone will be able to do. You can practice like hell but it won't look like Paul's or etc. You need underlying skills for it to look smooth, a big part of it is just wrist flexability. Mine always crack wen i do it haha. Its basically a flat figure 8, rotation on the outside then rotation on the inside, the switch is the most difficult part. Keep at it tho, its a great move
