But when you do an inside/out tap, do you just get lucky that the stick hist ur foot at the right part of its rotation (well this is a range), or do you just practice so much that the move is exactly the same everytime?
Because I may be able to pull one off correctly 4/5 times but sometimes it jsut flips up on one side and falls down.

It used to be all luck with me but I learned the secret... You kick you foot and watch the stick and when you hit the stick you fallow through to where you want to go and the stick 9/10 times will go where you want it... No one will ever get 100% accuracy.

the question you asked is really vague...you have to learn to be more specific. it could depend on a lot of factors including WHERE the stick is landing and HOW the stick was tossed to begin with.
i always heli-toss it into a footstall because i think that looks way more professional...however, it makes it a lot harder for the stick to land at exactly the right angle you want. hence, if you stall on your pant leg rather than your foot it allows for a larger area for you to "aim" the stick to land.
before learning this though, you should train your foot/leg muscles in that "catching" motion to properly stall the stick. do this by lowering your foot slightly at the last second before the stick hits it (IMG:

To do a more accurate tap: learn to stall, except when you reach the bottom of the stall ( where you would normally stop ), kick your leg back up with a decent speed. It should go straight up with some practice. This takes a little longer ( not a true tap I guess ), but it's more consistent with practice in my opinion.

For great kicks from a helicopter toss, make sure the helicopter toss is extremely fast and horizonatal. those two features will improve your accuracy by a magnitude.

wouldn't playing hackey (sp?) sack help..well not with the actually toss..
It will help most likely. It'll help improve your leg/eye coordination to the point where you can land the stick or tap it much easier. I learned without playing hacky sack, and it takes a lot of work.
