Some of you may be familiar with Locks of Love, for those of you who aren't, Locks of Love is a charity organization that provides wigs for children that suffer from hair loss due to various medical reasons or chemotherapy to cure cancer. For more information you can visit their website http://www.locksoflove.org/

They accept donations of hair which they use to help make wigs for these children. My sister and I both contribute to this wonderful cause and I'm going to be chopping off all my hair really soon so I thought it might be a cool idea to spread the word here on GSC and maybe get a few people to join the cause.

You can check out the full details on donating your hair on their donation page but basically if you can get 10 inch braids or ponytails you're good to go. I'll be shaving all my hair off, but I don't expect everyone to go that far.

The due date for this won't be until August so those of you whose hair may not be long enough yet can grow it out more.

Rules to Submit

* Deadline is 11:59 PM August 2 so try your hardest to have the clip to me by then.
I WILL ALLOW A DAY'S GRACE IF ANYONE HAS PROBLEMS AT THE LAST MINUTE.

* Include a BEFORE cut and AFTER cut picture either at the beginning of your clip or send these to me separately. These are to show that you contributed and will serve as intros to your clip. You can film either before or after you get your hair cut but it would be better if it was after.

* Submitted clips must be no longer than 1 minute and can be stringing, freehand, or both.
* Sticks must be cracked, but there is no color or type of stick required.
* Do not release your video publicly until after the collaboration is released
* Adequate lighting is required! Please shoot a test video before actually recording if this is your first video! I will ask for resubmission if the lighting is inadequate!

Well, as they say on the website, they do sell the shorter hair to help offset the costs of making wigs. Plus you got a few months to grow it out. I might push the date back further if there's enough interest, just didn't want it to be too long or people would forget and winter would be rounding the corner and people's heads would be getting chilly. Damn, someone told me about this once. I totally would, but this is the first time that I've grown out my hair, I'd like to see how it turns out. ^^;

Hm. I donated 14 inches when I was younger when my hair reached my hips. My hair's long now, but only mid-back (see profile) and I'm not sure how much I'm shearing off this time. If I wait until August, I could have enough. We'll see.

My hair is at 6 inches at the moment.

It is a collab with the requirement that you donate to Locks of Love. At the moment though we've got a whole lot of we'll sees and no one committing.

I haven't cut my hair since you mentioned you were going to start this. I think I'm gonna have to cut it pretty soon though, summer's here and it's hot in Texas. It's around 3 inches, 4 in some places so hopefully it'll be long enough for some of it to be usable.

i believe it is minimum 8 inches...thats what they told me when I tried to donate in Cleveland. AND, you have to go to a special barber to get it done.

Oh wow, I guess that disqualifies me. If anything I'll do it over the course of next winter once it starts getting cool here again. That'll give me most of a year to grow it out.
