Hello everyone i guess this is the place where newbies post about help so ill give it a shoot too.

I want to begin with Glowsticking, but the fact is i don't know where i should start, and then comes my question. I want to know what to start with and where i should start and which toturials i should watch. I'm from
bergen in norway and there ait to many glowstickers there so all i can do is ask for help on this forum, i need to know everything a list with what i should begin with would be great so i can get into it and how i should advance.

Anything would help a list to begin with, started help, where i should buy my glowsticks etc etc.

Thanks for all the answers.

Ummm...

I'd start with reading our Culture Section. It is kind of the back bone to our community, so this will give you a good snap shot into who and what we are here on GS.c.

Okay, the first question you should ask yourself is whether you are looking to be a stringer or a freehander. I don't know if you looked around the site much or not, but the differences are fairly evident...

Glowstring=glowsticks on strings
Freehand=no strings

As for tutorials and move lists; there really isn't a set way to go about this. As a stringer most people tell you to start with the basics of the weave, corkscrew, windmill and basic wraps (all these tutorials should be in the tutorial section). As a freehander, I'd recommend you get the basic traces, toss/stall combos and the figure-8/helicopter (these I know are in the tutorial section).

Give both styles the good old college try, and when you figure out what style of dance you like more, we can move to the next step. As you learn, progress and develop don't be afraid to message or post with questions on how to's and explanations. We are all here to help you!

I think that should get you started, but if you have questions feel free to send me a message and I would be happy to find you a list of links to different tutorials, or answer any freehand related questions you may have (I don't do stringing so well, but I can also help with conjuring).

Oh! And, Welcome! (IMG:http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

P.S. Department stores, camping equipment stores, party supply stores or Extremeglow.com/glowproducts.com are good starters for buying glowsticks.

Well,

Hehe first of all I say WELCOME TO GSC ^^!!!! We're always glad to have new members coming around and trying to start what we all love. Where can I start i'm on limited time so i'll name what I can help you with off the top of my head.

The Tutorial Forum: Helps with glowstringing and/or Freehanding.

That one will most likely help you the most. After you get to that point you can figure out where the tutorials are but heres a link just in case:

Forum for Glowstringing
http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/Freehan...rials-f106.html
Forum for FreeHanding

For Collaborations and Meetups

Haven't been here but for Youtube Videos.

Mostly all I can see is check the Regional Forum to see if their are nearby Glowstickers.

I can't promise you their are people around you but make it all the while ^^ practice.
Check youtube mostly for basics and such.

Edit: Oh and ask for GSC staff members for help i'm just trying to help people at the moment so take this as a beginners guide.

Practice as much as you want. I know some people that practice very little. I know some people that want to be good so they average 2-3 hours a day. It depends on what you want.

Everything is really subjective. Some people that have a dance background learn to flow and move quickly, some people it takes them a while.

flow takes time. you have to learn to develop your own rhythm. no one can really tell you how to do it.

it depends on what moves you know, how you connect them, and how you move your body to go with the glowsticks.
