Hi everyone, I've been glowstringing for a little while now. (Lovin' it c:) And I've been wondering.

My dominant hand is seriously outpacing my off-hand.

Is there some sort of special practice to help out your off-hand? Or do you just go pedal to the metal and practice all your moves more with your left hand.

Anything I do with my left hand is significantly less polished than my right hand.

Tips? Special practicing?

Thanks a lot, Xin.

I'm the exact same way and it sucks, but when I learn something new its usually always with my right cause thats my dominant hand, but once you got it down with your dominant hand just work on doing it with your other one and you'll get it....I say its just all practice with the other hand I haven't found out any "special" ways. And when I talk on the phone or am doing something with my right hand I keep a string in my left while I'm walking around and just do stuff with my left hand only...Iunno kinda weird but I guess it helps me.

WELLLLL, when i first started stringing i realized my right hand was dominant, so whenever i learned something new id actually do it with my lefthand first. its kind of like doing the choirs before having fun hahah. left first, right last. Just something outta the boxISH ya know?. and now my hands are pretty equal.

Oh man, I gotta try that one. Thanks Bx.

@Trebek: Yeah, I've been doing shotguns with my left hand absent mindedly recently.

After stringing for a few years I found my left hand is severely behind my right but I think it's true of most people. I came across a stall tutorial just a few minutes ago where the presenter is severely weak with his left hand - and he's considered one of the 'better' tech poiists out there today.

Lately I'm spending more and more time working on my left hand. I spend entire sessions spinning the opposite direction than the one I'm used to just to force myself to progress.

This is a pretty common answer for people who are on the newer side of stringing and I'm guessing that even more experience people have the same problem. I have a very simple answer that can greatly improve you off-hand and it does not matter if you are right or left handed.

I play Lacrosse and one very important thing about playing lacrosse is you need to be able to use both of your hands. I applied this to make lacrosse easier, but it can be used for anything not just sports.

Use your oppsite hand in simple everyday things. Most people (for example) use their right hand for everything that they do in everyday life. Just change it up a little.

1. While your having breakfast, lunch, or dinner use your left hand to eat or to drink.
2. Walk your walking your dog, use your left hand.
3. Taking a shower, put the soap in your left hand.
4. Brush your teeth with your left hand.
5. Anything you pick up or hold use your left hand.

Now if your right hand is greatly better than your left hand make sure you set aside some time just to practice with your left hand.

In no time your left hand will catch up to your right hand and your stringing will become much better.

With the exception of writing I can use both my hand equally in just about anything I do. And I know you and everyone having opposite hand troubles can fix that.

Hope this helps
