i can do basic traces and things, a couple btb catches and foot taps and stuff. but i can't do stalls for shit.
i can land the back/neck stall and hand stall, but i have no idea how to foot stall. do you guys have any tips/pointers for me?

Most important thing to remember is to cradle the stick not catch it... Act like it is an egg and will break if it just hits you. Second of all you have to keep your eye on it as long as you can. By doing this the part tryin to stall will automaticly want to go to what you are looking at. Make sure for footstalls and back stalls to do a heli-toss to make it easier to catch on a flat surface. Otherwise it could hit funny and bouce off.

Make sure you're compensaitng for the impact.
What i mean is if it hits your foot that is not moving it will naturally pop off because the force transfers. So you have to let your foot hit it, and fall with it.
Kind of complicated but you can get it.

if you understand the physics of the handstall and notice that you have to drop to catch the glowstick because lke the two guys said above it will hit and crack, or bounce off due to the two possitive energys, having the one energy (glowstick) attach to the gravity and fall bring your foot up into like a march or if more comfortable straight and just kicked upward and try to catch it in your pants, near your shin. baggy the better but it will tend to get caught up and not pop back out. good luck.

Whenever I'm doing stalls, I use jeans...baggy ones at that. the material is strong enough to give it a place to land without making it pop off, and isn't too flimsy to allow it to roll out. Also, on footstalls, I've found that I can catch it better with a vertical heli. Same for neck...for stalling in the crook of the arm, you just gotta have good timing.

hmmm... if your still having a hard time, you could always practice with a "hacky sack" since a sack is alot easier to stall, and if you get that then it's a little easier to translate the knowledge to a stick. but great advice from every1
also wearing ufo's make this one like 10 times easier...

It is naturally easier for me to complete an outside footstall. But the stalls inside/outside are quite easy to execute. Remember to gently craddle the stick as it falls down, and it is easier to catch it on the folds of your clothing (baggy sweats of jeans are best). I also find that catching 6 and 4 inch sticks are easier than 8 inch...so yea...thats my two cents...lol

i actually find its harder to catch with your pants then to catch it with your foot. with inside and outside footstalls yeah its extremely hard to stall it without the help of your pants. but with normal footstalls on the front of your foot i find it alot easier without using pants to stall, its kinda unpredictable when you use your pants. also its like a million times easier to do this bare-foot, coz shoes also add a level of unpredictability. just practise one night, and lift ur foot as high as u can, bring it down. get used to this, then throw the stick flat to your foot, not a very high throw at first, once u think you can do this bout 80% of the time, bring it a little higher, and continue. then start again with the heli toss.
Its gonna hurt at first, ur muscles will hurt alot actually. but in the end you will find it a million times easier to footstall. its also much easier to double foot stall this way then to try catch them in your pants.
Good luck with perfecting your stalls, the best tip is to practise practise practise.
