Is there any real reason to segregate and stereotype white people and dancing ability? You know there are like, a billion clubs out there right? Not all clubs are clubs that are glowstick friendly, places that play edm (infact they'll probably just play dance mixes of top 40 songs), rave based, places. A Rave =/= Club. open your mind a lil. |

It's a club. They have been around for ages. In just about every city is a club that teens flock to because it's cool. So what? There is no culture being loss, there is nothing wrong. Nothing you will say will keep them away.
Sorry but that's the way it is. And the dress code.... well most clubs have that sort of dress code. Not sure why it makes you mad. |

i suppose it is mainly the fact that rich kids around where i live and (other places as well) listen to what is popular, and that is namely rap and pop music. there are very few real fans of electronic music.
then this group comes along and starts advertising in school, which i am not so sure is legal.
i have already heard several of the more preppy people talk about how they were going to go on Saturday, and these are people that are more concerned with lip gloss and muscles than they are real life
now it seems that there are so many people jumping on the techno bandwagon that i am beginning to resent the people that follow what is popular. it seems like nothing is sacred anymore. fortunately i am not to the point of spitting on people yet
i suppose, now thinking about it, that nothing is being taken away that was not already lost. i just didn't expect it to be at such an early level with such a head-on approach. i guess you could say its like being shot point-blank with reality, because what i have seen so far has been much more mild (as in people getting addicted to Sandstorm and playing it in the halls on speakers). |

I don't know whats so appalling, 16+ dance clubs have been around for ages, and while I can understand any moral objections you might have its just another facet of the club "scene". The whole MTV reality show recruiting thing is a bit dodgey, but i really can't get my head around this "culture loss" you're talking about. What "culture" are we losing, and how do rich kids dancing to top40 contribute to it? |

a bit of background:
a couple days ago, somebody came through our school and put cards inside all of the lockers
they were promoting this club, and a special discount to anyone that brought a card.
from just checking out the dress code on the web site, i assumed it to be a more formal type of party. but upon further investigation, mainly delving into the photos and videos section, i was somewhat disturbed by it. actually, i was very disturbed and close to throwing up.
what set me off was either the large number of rich white kids that can't dance or the extremely generic music or the basic loss of culture that was taking place. i am not sure which. at least there were no glowstickers
above all, it is sponsored by facebook and myspace.
i can say for sure that i won't be going to this, (for fear of getting raped by a middle aged adult that preys on social networking sites such as myspace)
what are your guys reactions to this? |
