Oh, and another NW favorite, particularly in Oregon, is Psy-trance

If you don't know, then you need to hear. There is no other way to describe it. When I was about to move to Oregon from Delaware, I was in touch with some kids out here, and they asked if I had even heard of psy-trance. I said 'no, explain it to me' and they couldn't!

It wasn't until I went to a sick outdoor, hosted by a wonderful family of fun-loving hippies that I was able to fully understand the illness of psy-trance.

So melodic, so hypnotizing, so tribal. A mind-bending journey, no doubt. Think the intensity of jungle, plus breaks, with an intergalactic twist. I don't know how else to explain it. The best parties I have been to are out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains, under a night that is virtually lit up with diamonds in the sky, surrounded by love and psy-trance...

Ok, I'm starting to sound like a hippie!! lol

Anyone else diggin the psy-trance?

the state of Iowa was officially re-named
PSYOWA.
They throw 15 hour long parties with just psy-trance.
I enjoy psy but not for 15 hours straight!
imo psy songs sound the same after a couple hours =\

Hahahaha, yea, sounds like a psy-trance party

There is something about the community though, they are very family-oriented. And by family, I mean, a group of people that are very much so into helping fellow beings have a good safe fun evening. Most parties are sliding scale or free, there is always free water available, free or sliding scale organic food, you could walk up to almost anyone and ask for almost anything, and it would be provided without a second thought.

And because they know that there are always people who get twisted at their events, they even have a 'FreakOut Team', people who will float around the party and, if necessary, intervene on some kid who is waaay to f**ked up. bring him/her to their 'ChillOut Room' usually a tent with candles and soft things.

These people really care about their following out here!

I went to a Goa-Gil party a year back, and while it was cool that he played a 24-hour set, it was trauma-trance, which was waaaay to choppy and abrasive.....so not all psy is amazing.

lol but most of it is!!

I spin everything from progressive Trance to Psy Trance. And I gotta say, Psy Trance really gets the crowd going. I usually drop it towards the end of my sets.

Psytrance is awesome, but i think it requires me to be in a certain mood to listen to it. Not the kinda stuff i can just throw on for the car ride or something.
