I dunno what's up with it, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

Trance = awesome
Nice cars = awesome. Maybe they just go hand in hand.

Not to be stereotypical, but....
A lot of asians I know like EDM, they also loooove their cars.

Also, EDM is fantastic to play when you're driving. High BPM = speed rush like whoa. So people automatically link it to cars.

i agree, it was either initial d, or one of original japanese racing games that first introduced the pairing of trance/ techno music with racing. after that it just caught on.

i think the trend really caught on in the late 90's, early 2000s when the rave scene first became "popular". tons of AzNs with spiky hair and long bangs and baggy pants started going around with tricked out cars, playing trance, going to raves, and obsessing over import models.

==

but the nature of EDM is hypnotic and pulsating. pretty much the same experience you wanna get from a sleek car. it's like a mind high; you're zooming along at lightspeed (mentally and figuratively( but your body is still). one of my guy friends who looves trance and used to race said that trance is like being in 2 places at once, being still yet also moving. that's kinda the abstraction of the experience of driving along a dark road with passing lights at night.

I thought I replied but I guess I didnt

I had a theory that was based off of what Ive seen through the media so its probably going to sound ignorant. But maybe the rave culture and the street racing culture are intertwined a little bit. Music can also branch out to different cultures and subcultures. And as other people have said EDM must be a great genre to listen to while speeding around

I vaguely remember reading your blog about why Electro started becoming extremely popular. (the whole electro and porn thing coming together) Random, but I wanted to say that it was freaking hilarious.

It's also the fact that it's "stylish" to have a car with the biggest sound possible. Watch those videos about the car sound system competitions... It's making me think of the clip from DJ Medhi's "Signatune" Remix, kinda cool to watch =)

I don't know if I could drive to BPM like this, and it's pretty high.
