Hello everyone, I am VelvetBat from the Netherlands. I am really a newbie at glowsticking. First I tried stringing, but I noticed that my living room is too small to practise (and I don't like to practise outside). So I now started with learning freehanding, which looks awesome too. :)
I also have fibromyalgia (= a chronic illness, causing pains and stiffness in all joints in my body) which makes it a little harder to practise and keep sticking for a while, but I don't want to give up. ^_^ And recently I also started at a health centre to try and improve my muscles and learn how to live with it and such.
But I am sure that if I practise regulary, my muscles will get used to the moves and everything will go a lot better. :)

Anyways, I am glad I found this website because it really has tons of information! :D

YES FOR MORE MEMBERS FROM THE NETHERLANDS!!!!!
Now that we've settled that, welcome to GSC :)
Be sure to check out the cultural boards to get an idea of where we stand on certain issues. After that, have a look at the freehand tutorial section for more information on freehanding. Finally, you could have a look at the European regional forums to see who the other European members are.
With the official part over: Misschien kunnen we een keer samen een glowstick sessie houden. Ik kom namelijk zelf ook uit Nederland ;)

Cheers/Groetjes

Thank you! :D

And yes, I've already checked out the culture board and articles on the website. ^_^

En een glowstick sessie houden klinkt leuk, maar dan wel als ik wat beter/meer ervaren ben. XD Ik kan nu alleen nog maar de figure 8 en helicopter. :P

I'm mostly a stringer, but I can do some freehanding as well so I might be able to teach you one or two things (basic tracing, threading and butterfly).
Btw, I'm kinda curious, how did you find GSC?

Cheers

How I found GSC?
Via poi and google. I first saw a Poi stand at the Gothic and Fantasy Beurs in Rijswijk and I tried it out and liked it. (and I got a pair of fluffy poi as well since I am addicted to fluffy poi, and they had cute little eyes too which I couldn't resist, but they are quite heavy to poi with)
But on their webshop I also found out about a LED glow in the dark poi called Stardass, which also had a fiberglass tail. And then I tought: "Wow, glow in the dark poi is even more awesome!"
But the stardass is made from rubber and I am allergic to that. So no stardass for me.
Time went on and then suddenly one day I checked back at their website and I saw they had some LED sticks called Glostix, which I found rather expensive. So I goggled around looking for cheaper alternatives and then I also came across the term glowsticking. So I simply googled "glowsticking", came across this website, learned that glowsticking is different from poi, which captured my interests even more and decided to join! :D

Nice, it's one of the most interesting ways I've heard of getting here :P

:P
Somehow I seem to have a habit of getting into things in a bit different way.
Same with the goth scene. I have been into the goth scene for 12 years now, and most people I've talked to got into goth through metal or alternative peers. And me? Through neopets, a website were you take care of a cute little 150x150 pixel animal. XD
